I know scheming your defense for an opponent never is as simple as copying the scheme of their opponent(s) that shut them down, but I would imagine that our staff knows the 2004 Oklahoma/Texas game tape by heart.

yeah you can say that again Mili. I think it was mentioned either here or on another board. Tressel has gone to Oklahoma/LSU/Arkansas this winter to exchange notes, and I'd imagine that Tressel was there for many reasons. One of those reasons that I have no doubt in was he was seeing what worked/didn't work against Texas.

Remember LSU's current coach was Okie States coach last year. How does everyone think our Defense ranks with Oklahoma's?? I think we're probably better in run defense but last year we weren't as good in pass coverage. Atleast thats how I feel? How do you guys feel?

The problem with looking at the ou games is that the texas teams that you are watching aren't the same as what you will most likely(well hopefully any way) be playing. Mack's nuts shrivel up so tight around the biggining of october that he doesn't even run the same offense. They didn't call one roll out pass the entire game last year. Think about that for a second. The best scrambling qb in the nation is not allowed to break the pocket? Not only did we run the designed qb draw, but we did it EVERY FUCKING 3RD DOWN!!! regardless of distance. My highschool team could have stopped it. I guess what my whole point boils down to is this. If GD and mac come into the shoe with their panties in a bunch then we lose...plain and simple. If they decide to use the whole playbook then I think we have a good shot at winning. Unfortunatly, mac's history would lead me to be expecting a uber-conservative gameplan.

also when mentioning the 52-0 when out rushing the opponent people always forget to mention the year that we had the amazing rushing of Hodges Mitchell. With all due respect to Hodges Selvin and RT should both be able to duplicate what he did.

I think you might be on crack . ou's big weakness last year(and the year before that) was defending deep routes. Their rush defense was great. okie state was really nothing more than a slightly above avg team. They ended up 5th place out of 6th in their devision.

Our passing defense is solid, but the strength of it is taking away the deep pass... which sounds like one of VY's strengths in terms of throwing. As mentioned, we struggled with the screen passes.

It's interesting to me that Tressell's been talking to OU/Ark/LSU about us because Mack's talked to Pete Carroll and Norm Chow about their offense, especially how they utilize Reggie Bush. Mack wants to be able to better incorporate Ramonce Taylor into our offense. We all know that they've done an incredible job out there of getting Bush into space on quick routes and if that's what y'all seem to have the most problems with it, well that makes me a little happier.

Hey, when did Bush transfer to Texas? :roll1:

While we had problems with screens and short routes early last season, by the time we played Michigan we had tightened that down pretty well (we gave up one big screen against Michigan in the first quarter, but after that we had shut all the short stuff down).

Ramonce Taylor is a Reggie Bush type player and we're just learning better ways to get him into space. It's been discussed to the ends of the earth that y'all played a good game against Michigan and Okie State but that doesn't mean you won't give up any screen passes next season. Screens are the type of play that can really give a team a hell of a lot of trouble early in the season and I'll be extremely happy if we give you a decent dose of them come September. There is no way you'll play at the beginning of next season the way you will at the end of the season.

Nobody is a Reggie Bush type player except Reggie Bush.
Hmmm... didn't realize there was only one shifty back that was quick and hard to get your hands on. Man, I guess we might as well tell Ramonce to not show up for next season. Maybe he doesn't even really exist since there can't be another player that plays like Reggie Bush. And when it comes right down to it, Reggie Bush plays pretty similar to Barry Sanders but that can't be because we all know that nobody is a Barry Sanders type player except Barry Sanders.

You can be the type of player as someone else while maybe being on a different playing level.

Well that ramps things up a little bit...

My post is full of sarcasm but I'm failing to see where I was a dick. But that's fine, I'll let you all see how Ramonce plays come this September. Bush came in as a freshman to a team that opens its arms up to putting freshman on the field right away and is also a year ahead of Ramonce. Ramonce came into a program where the head coach is extreeeemely tentative about putting freshman on the field. And it just so happens he came into the program as a RB the same year we had the DOAK WALKER winner. Hmmm... (time for a little more of my patented sarcasm) this guy must suck if he managed to get playing time and make the most of it while playing behind the DOAK WALKER WINNER!!!

Ramonce Taylor as a freshman:
10.1 yards per carry with a long of 74
21.3 yards per catch with a long of 44

Bottom line is he managed to impress Mack Brown enough to get on the field as a freshman, which is very hard to do especially as a running back.

You know what he means, why do you have to be like that? We're not 12, here.

Let's have some mutual respect.
Give me a fucking break. There is nobody that plays the game like Reggie Bush. Just like there is nobody that plays the game like Ginn. I've never seen anybody play like that. Now this guy says there's some nobody on his team who plays like Reggie Bush, and his proof is that he saw playing time as a freshman. Wow, I'm so impressed.

Don't scold me.
