Well it looks like he has a great deal of information in there. It would just do better with a tabbed organization.

No doubt, it is obvious that he put a ton of effort into a very quality write up, but if it was separated out it would be much more accessable to those of us that don't have fiber to a nac...

Hey buckeyes. Greetings from Austin. I hope everyone who comes down has a great time and you enjoy yourself. We have a groovy little town waiting for you...as well as a bad ass football team .

I've told all my friends that Buckeye fans are the noblest and most educated I know of and I look forward to this weekend. I'm buying drinks for buckeye fans I meet....unless of course Texas loses in which case I'll stay home an wallow in despair for a few hours.

Enjoy Austin and welcome.

PS If you hit 6th street for some partying and meet a homeless guy wearing women's lingerie (he favors a leopard t-back) he's cool. His name is Leslie and he's an icon of Austin. Ran for mayor once. Didn't go so well for him.

Peace

Great post, Viva!

Leslie for President!

Big 12 Game of the Week
Ohio State (1-0) at Texas (1-0) 8 pm EST ABC Saturday, September 9th

Why to watch: It might only be early September, but this might be for the national championship. This is the one the whole college football world has been waiting for ever since these two staged a classic in last year's 25-22 Texas victory that kickstarted the run to the national championship. After moving up in the Coaches' Poll to number two, Texas has put itself in a position to control its own destiny in the national title hunt with, realistically, only a shaky Oklahoma and trips to Nebraska and Texas Tech standing in the way of another championship game. Ohio State is seen as this year's version of the 2005 Longhorns with QB Troy Smith, who was platooned with Justin Zwick in last year's UT showdown, being asked to be another Vince Young. After a dominating 35-12 win over Northern Illinois to start the season, the Buckeyes are still the number one team in the country, but this is the game that needs to cement the spot. Can Mack Brown win a big game without Young? Can Ohio State show that all the defensive losses to the NFL didn't really matter? This should be nothing less than a classic.

Why Ohio State might win: Texas QB Colt McCoy looked terrific against North Texas completing 12 of 19 passes for 178 yards and three touchdowns. Ohio State isn't North Texas. It's one thing to be able to stand around all day and wait for the receivers to come open, but it's another to do it against a fire-breathing defense like OSU's. Everyone can say all they want about how McCoy faces one of the best defenses in the nation every day in practice, but it's just not the same. Texas won last year because of the steady play of Young when things got tight. If all else is dead even, the Buckeyes have a whopping advantage at quarterback. Ohio State knows Troy Smith can pull games out of the fire; Texas hopes McCoy can.

Why Texas might win: The forecast for Austin, Texas for this Saturday: High 98 with isolated thunderstorms. Especially early in the season when everyone's still getting in game shape, there's a huge difference between the heat of Columbus and the hard-to-breathe humidity that should be a factor on Saturday night. Texas will be used to it; Ohio State won't be. The Buckeye defensive back seven will be really good ... in time. As good as NIU RB Garrett Wolfe is, it has to be a concern that the Huskie back was able to tear off 171 rushing yards. The Texas offensive line is far better than NIU's, and Jamaal Charles leads a backfield that's more than good enough to come up with a huge night.

Who to watch: Ohio State can certainly run the ball, but the offense hums at its best when the deep passing game is working. Things got a lot easier for Smith, Ted Ginn and Anthony Gonzalez as Texas will be without starting CB Tarell Brown after the senior was arrested on misdemeanor drug and weapon charges. It's supposed to be Brown's job to handle a much-improved Ginn, and now it might be up to sophomore Ryan Palmer or junior Brandon Foster to handle the work. ... Job one for UT defensive coordinator Gene Chizik will be to stop No. 7. Ginn was always known for being a great do-it-all athlete, and now he has improved his route running and receiver skills to an All-America level. He caught four passes fro 123 yards and two touchdowns against NIU, took two kickoffs for 25 yards, and two punt returns for 44.

What will happen: This is about as dead even as it can get. McCoy is better than many might think, and he'll show just enough poise to make the one or two key throws needed to keep the offense moving. It'll be a physical, hard-hitting game with the two offensive lines controlling the other's defensive front. Texas will get just enough from the running game to pull off the win and move up to number one.

CFN Prediction: Texas 23 ... Ohio State 20 ... Line: Texas -2

Must See Rating: (5 skip the birth of your first born - 1 Fashion House) ... 5

3 out of 5 of the CFN boys pick Texas in the Expert Picks, too. (4 of 6 if you count Clucko :) )

I am so anxious for the game. Anxious about winning or losing, about waiting to play, about everything.

I've kicked everyone out. I am, for once, watching this game alone. Full concentration necessary. Damn let Saturday come. . .

Winnable Game!?!?

Troy Smith is a veteran QB. We have all seen him grow as a field general. We all know that he is in command of a offensive juggernaut. A juggernaut consisting of Pittman, Ginn, Wells(both of them),Datish, Boone, Gonzales just to name a few.

My qestion is this, will the offensive juggernaut be enough to beat the Long Horns? I have just finished watching last weeks game against NIU (for the third time) and I am worried about our defense. I saw a lot of mistakes when our D was on the field. The starting LB's and DB's were easily blocked on numerous plays, or were out of position. Mind you, that even though they were easily blocked or were out of position they were able to recover due to the speed that they have on the defense. I thought the most sickening moment on defense was when Wolfe scored. He caught a pass on the 10ydln with three BUCKEYE defenders around him and not one of them came up to attack, all three just stood there (sickening).

Does anyone else have the same feeling of dread or doom as I do?

Of course it is a winnable game. We are The OSU. No game is unwinnable. Many thought Miami was unbeatable in the Fiesta Bowl. I heard people say the Domers were too good last year. There is always hope in Buckeye Country.

Same here. My friends wanted to come watch it with me. Too bad this Saturday it's just going to be me, brats, and a 12 pack. No interuptions or anything. Hell I'm not even sure I'll get up to go to the bathroom. It's all that important.

To my friends who root for the Ohio State Buckeyes

It's been really enjoyable talking to you throughout the year. I want to wish the very best to all of you-health to you and your families. I hope those of you who visit Austin have a truly enjoyable time, and I wish for a great game, with the worthiest team prevailing. The two schools have staged something truly memorable, and I won't forget how fun these two games have been. Good luck to you---Oh yes, one more thing, if you beat us, win the national title. Hook 'em Horns, and God Bless America.

Garrett Wolfe is really good. We did a great job of getting him in space vs. you.

Took him 504 posts, but he finally made a solid observation.

Wolfe had very few good runs between the tackles. All of his big plays came when he was swung out wide via a screen pass or he ran it/bounced it outside. When he was in space, he was dominant...when he wasn't he was more or less stuffed. We never seemed to make adjustments to his going wide, and it may be because our staff didn't think it was needed in that they felt that no way could NIU "outscore us", and thus played a fairly vanilla defense despite Wolfe going off. I'm thinking that if the Texas offense were to try the same type of approach, we'd adjust after their second such play. I also think it's a given that since we'll probably be bringing a ton of pressure on McCoy, we'll automatically have to be on the lookout for screens and misdirections.

If someone tells me that Garrett Wolfe is suiting up for the Longhorns, then I'll get worried. Don't go telling me that they're run plays "like" NIU's -- that's like saying that you'll run plays "like" what OSU ran to Ted Ginn against ND. If you don't have Ginn, it's not quite the same play, now is it?

Young defenders, many of them backups, got caught out by an awfully good football player. That happens, especially in a blowout, where players of any age can lose their focus. I would honestly be far more worried about a young QB who is going to find his sense of self-confidence tested early and often than I would about this defense. They'll play very well. Bank on it.

What you SHOULD be seeing on your tape is solid DL play, with the ends getting pressure quickly on the QB during passing downs, and the DTs taking away the inside gaps on running plays. All that NIU was able to find effective were runs outside the tackles, and various swing and screen passes, again on the outside. This is not the place you want to live every single down if you're trying to move the ball effectively for four quarters.

Now, if our defense were being beaten vertically, giving up receptions inside to the slot receiver or tight end, or giving up a high YPC on rushes between the tackles, there'd be cause for concern. Yes, guys took some bad angles in space and tackled poorly against a very elusive player. Just keep in mind that #7 can also make look otherwise talented players look pretty stupid at times. Wolfe has those kinds of skills.

The battle in this game is on the other side of the ball. OSU's offense versus the Texas D -- strength on strength. Our ability to protect the ball and to protect Troy Smith will be paramount. The Texas DL is the core of their team, and it's awfully good. Probably the best in the nation. Our OL is right up there, and that's the battle to watch. Tressel's play calling will be on cetner stage, and I'm hoping to see him play his weapons like a virtuoso conductor -- stretching the Texas D, opening running lanes and keeping the threat of an explosive play always on the minds of the defenders.

While the Texas O is good, I believe that it is out offense which will set the tone of the game. Colt McCoy may find himself leading a team that trails, and may find himself leading a team that's just been shocked with a big play or a series of them. A young defense will play emotionally, and those big plays will have them fired up. Those were the times last year when Texas relied on Vince Young's confidence and experience. McCoy may be the real deal, but this is his first major game, and they don't get much bigger than this. I'd much rather go in with our question marks as they are than be trying to break in Schoenhoft, for example.

Fear not. We're going to win this game.
