Game Thread Game Two: #1 Ohio State 24, #2 Texas 7 (9/9/06)

:horse::horse::horse::horse::horse:

yeah because the missed tackle (near safety), FG miss, late hit on the pre-halftime kickoff, and troys transgressions had no impact. :roll2: There were plenty of mistakes, not just by OSU either.
Dang, i was trying to get a comment outta the Texas fans who read it. It was a joke either way. :tongue2:

Edit: Why would i wanna watch it? Its just one of those plays that you hate to watch but you gotta see it again...and again....and again...until it pretty much fuels you for the game in September.

I disagree... I simply can't watch that game. It's awful too, cause it was really such a great game. But, it just pisses me off too much to sit and watch OSU piss away what should have been a great win in that manner... not taking anything away from VY getting it done when he had to.. just pisses me off that OSU scored on 6 straight possessions and came away with a lousy 22 points total.

I don't see either team scoring more than 30 points. I could see where tOSU could win 10-7, or 13-7, but I just don't see alot of long yardage quick scoring plays in this game.

I guarantee you right now that we'll score well over 13 points.

I agree with UTMNC, this will be a ver low-scoring game and the defense's will be very tired at the end of he game.

The last time our defense was tired was 2004 at Iowa, because we couldn't sustain any drives all game long and couldn't put any points on the board. I don't see our offense going 3-and-out very often in Austin. I dare say our defense is as conditioned as any in the country.

The only stat that stands out to me is the fact that UT scored 50+ points in every single game of the season last year, except....against tOSU.

Texas averaged 50 points on offense last year, but scored between 40 and 47 in 5 other games - 45 vs. Oklahoma, 42 against Colorado (the first time), 47 at Okie St., 40 at aTm, and 41 againt USC. Good performances, but not 50+ in every game.

That's what makes summer bearable, the anticipation of another classic. Having made the argument of how great the Texas defense will be -vs- how great the tOSU offense will be, I think the flip side of that will also be true, that being people "OUTSIDE" of tOSU fans will be surprised at how quickly the talent on the defensive side of the ball has been replaced after losing so many starters, and poeple "OUTSIDE" of Texas fans, will be surprised that Texas can still manage to get into the endzone without Vince Young.

While UT has pleanty of skill left at the skill positions (which, judging from the likes of Chad Henne, can make a difference (see Braylon Edwards) I'd still worry about your QB situation if I were you. No a lot you can do about it, of course, but asking a young QB to go in to a game like this one and stand up can be a tall order. Pressure early and often will be important, if you ask me. Gotta rattle him quick. Playing at home will surely help, if you guys were bringing a new QB to the shoe, I'd have to say your team would have a tough hill to climb.

The team with the better QB wins and I don't mean on that particular day.

Every other position is a wash. Both schools have outstanding recruits and top notch coaching.

Texas will be at a disadvantage because of that one factor and its BIG!

I also see Texas losing to Oklahoma this year for the same reason.

You just can't reload a VY!

The saving grace for either of the UT QB's is the fact they will be surrounded by alot of talent. Texas OL will be very, very, good. Jevan and Colt can both throw tight accurate ropes, with Jevan having a cannon. Jevan is also a big tough kid with pretty good moves and speed. The question will be how they react after an interception, or a fumble after a blindside hit. One thing for sure is neither of them are timid what so ever, and both practice against a very nasty defense everyday. I still say tOSU wins this one in a close game, but it's going to be a war.

Yeah, and the UT OL was very, very good last year, when they gave up three sacks, six tackles for loss, and paved the way for UT running backs to rack up a grand total of 39 yards on 17 carries (2.3 ypc).

Out of curiousity, who was responsible for those three sacks and sick tackles for loss? There is also no reason to doubt that Jamaal will be more confident this time around and the coaches should trust him to carry the ball more often. If you recall, he was only a true freshman last year playing in his 2nd collegiate game.

I don't see either team scoring more than 30 points. I could see where tOSU could win 10-7, or 13-7, but I just don't see alot of long yardage quick scoring plays in this game. I can also see tOSU moving the chains with three-four yards a play, which is OK providing it's 70-80 yard drives. Turnovers changes everything, but I think if it's a fairly mistake free game this will be a low scoring game, with mabey tOSU scoring late on a tired Texas defense. The Texas defense will be faster and more athletic than last years "D", but when your arse is dragging in the 4th quarter in the September Texas heat, the stronger ofense has the advantage. One things for sure, for the second year in a row, two of college football's greatest programs will steal the National spotlight. Hats off to both schools for having the "ba--s" to schedule such a historic OOC game.

LOL

OSU scored 22 last year. With a better offense you think they only can manage 10-13? Please. Get back to us when you are dealing with reality
