Game Thread Game Three: #1 Ohio State 37, Cincinnati 7 (9/16/06)

Quick post game first look thoughts...

Offense...

--Coach D is still a great mind. He had Troy confused early and forced some great adjustments from the O staff.

--HOWEVER, I view the above as a plus for this team and staff....we showed a multi-dimensional attack and the ability to play different styles. That is a preparation nightmare for future opponents.

--The OL was not focused today. False starts, holding calls, and flat out getting beat...that was disappointing.

--Troy was efficient and never showed any frustration or a need to take the game into his own hands. He forced some things early and then settled into the game. Another quality performance.

--The WR corps are DEEP...pick your poison.

--JZ is the best backup in the country and would start at 95% of the D-1 programs. He will be in the NFL...mark it down.

--Beanie will not take over for Pitt...Antonio runs with a purpose and knows where he is going. The challenge was given...and he has accepted.

--A few years back, the cries for offensive adjustments were frequent...those questions should never be heard again.

Defense...

DLine--Unreal performance from Quinn Pitcock. He is an All-American. However, as a unit, they were undisciplined early...once settled, they dominated the LOS.

LBS--Laurinaitis is a stud. Period. Anyone doubting him now is clueless. Kerr and Freeman need to step it up...I was not impressed at all with Kerr and Freeman was around the ball but was not applying the proper force expected from a tOSU LB. I don't see practice every day but I do see who is making plays when they are "in the heat." Grant, terry, and Homan are looking like gamers to me. However, as stated, Im assuming they are making too many big mistakes in practice...

DBs--Jenkins is a non-issue. Close that book and forget about that side of the field. Kid is a player. Smith is steady enough to give the young kids time to improve. Russell will be a stud and I love his effort. I was hard on BMitch early but he has been adequate...not a gamechanger nor will he make the BIG play...but he is where he needs to be.

Special teams...

Improved kicking game...Pettrey is settling in and Pretorious is showing he isn't rolling over just yet.

AJ will win a Ray Guy before he leaves...

Kickoff team was not ready for a non-touchback...don;t get spolied boys.

Just a first look...havent watched it a second time yet.

I was comfortable with my V-bet the whole game. :tic:

Remind me to send Pretorious some V-cash. Do you think ESPN would pick up on that story?

"OSU now under investigation for Ryan Pretorious receiving $200,000 of vcash after hitting a kick which allowed OSU to cover the vegas spread that made an OSU alumn very vwealthy. "

37-7: Good Win

Curtis Terry again plays with high intensity. He must be in "The Doghouse". Can't believe Kerr plays ahead of him, or Homan for that matter.

Pitt looks awesome, loved to see him chewing out CWells because he was tiptoeing around in the backfield.

Ginn better halt his DSanders "afraid of contact" deal if he wants to play in the league. That won't fly at the next level.

"Touchdown Todd" Boeckman looked great running the option late in the 4th quarter. (It is imperative to have solid backup QBs when they are part-time RBs)

Boone only had an early problem, but his mates picked up some flags as well.

Gonzo being Gonzo.

Nicol looked like he is fired up a bit, still a ways to go.

Surprised by lack of Patt getting his name called.

Russell was solid, as well as other DBs. Backers were average.

Gotta go, Fat Charlie is getting ready to play.

Just send it to me. I'm a vBooster keeping all his vCash for him!
