Game Thread: Texas 47, Oklahoma St 28 (final)

gotta watch out for those xylophones. they'll get ya.

you know what they should do for extra padding around the endzones? they should stack the bandies so that there's a comfortable cushion for the players to crash into. i mean, they're just standing there. they might as well be of use.

One thing is for certain. If you are a Texas fan, you better hope that Vince Young doesn't bolt for the NFL. Because if he does, this team is in trouble. He almost single-handedly beat Oklahoma State.

Deja vu all over again ... Texas outscores Okie State 35-0 in the second half to win going away, 47-28.

Vince Young's numbers passing: 15/30, 2 TD's, 1 Int, 1 sacks, 239 yards
Vince Young's numbers rushing: 20 for 267 (13.4 average) for 2 TD's, 1 fumble

Any wonder why VY was the consensus #1 recruit in the 2002 class?

Looks like a Heisman is in his future....

Gundora had a good game plan, and moving the ball well. The turning point in the game was the 80 yard run by VY, and OSU couldn't respond. We had some really good drives till about Texas' 40 or 35 and then a penalty or something would stall the drive out. When we couldn't get any points after the great D-Mac return (1st half) that reall hurt. Defense got tired and couldn't stop anybody. Thats been the MO for this team the entire season, offense can't move the ball and defense tires out. Defense also couldn't get any TOs or pressure on VY.

Thank goodness for the Woods. D'Juan had a amazing catch. I was watching Luke Frazier (#24) the whole way, and that who the pass was meant for. Luke never looked back for the ball, and then I saw Huff get his arm in and go for the pick, but it bounced off and D'Juan was right there to make an amazing one handed catch and run it in for a TD (top 10 play). After the ball bounced off of Luke I dropped my head because I thought that could of been a big play if he had only turned his head and then I see D'Juan streaking across the field and everybody was cheering. On the other side Donovan (#8) was the safety who jumped up on the ball fake by VY and then the 80 yard TD happened. The sad part is that Donovan was the starting QB all of last year and for the first two games this year, so he should of known better. He was moved because Bobby Reid was to be the future for the program, but in the 4th against Missouri, he was tackled and suffered turf toe. He has been out since.

Al Pena, QB played a much better game than he has the previous two games (10 turnovers against Texas A&M and Iowa St.) He had no turnovers this game and played a much smarter game.

Mike Hamilton, RB had his best game of the season. He didn't have any TDs but the way he was running was much better. He did have the fumble toward the end of the game.

Tonights game proved to me that Bush will win the heisman, as long as he keeps it up. At the start UT had a several dropped passes, and VY had a couple of bad over throws, that left the WR open for a big hit. He did win the game for the shorthorns, and he is a great player but Bush is the best in the nation.

The curse of Texas is upon us. :(

The retards at ESPN were talking immediately after this game about VaTech now passing TX just because of this one game. They never mentioned that USC has done this 3 times already this season - fall way behind and then blow the other team out in the second half. They also never mentioned the last second, lucky win over the Irish. Typical media double-standard.
They rave about how Beamer is such a great coach and how he wins with special teams and defense, but a certain Ohio coach sucks and gets lucky to win by playing the same way in '02 and '03.
Oh yeah, and now VY might have just drawn even with or even passed Bush in the Heisman race - it's too bad they can't wait until after the two teams play each other to decide it.

I think he deserves it. It really helps to have a signature play in your highlight reel, and VY now has it. The 80-yard run after the pump fake will get replayed a ton for the rest of the season, like Crouch's stumbling run a few years ago that really got the voters attention.

A lot of the voters are idiots that don't watch enough games, but they have the ability to watch replays and go 'Ooooooh!'

Twice he so totally sold the fake pitch that the room to run simply opened up after the entire Cowboy defense and the camera crew bit on the running back.

BTW, were those the most retarded commentators on TBS?

Wife and I were laughing throughout at their complete inability to get their facts straight.

A selection of the obvious:

ALWAYS under-couting gains by the offense. Example RB gains 3 yards on 1st and 10 --
"That a short gain of 2 yards ..... and that brings up 2nd and Seven"

Constantly NOT calling obvious interference or other penalties.

Example, someone nets a huge pass play, clearly there is a flag on the play thrown in the area for holding.

"Great coverage by the Cowboy defender ... (minutes later) Oh, on the replay it looks like he might have had hold of him"

In the meantime the penguins had long ago called the hold and assessed the penalty.

It was as if they were deliberately getting things wrong.

Wow, if an Okie Lite fan still thinks Bush is a lock for the Hiesman, I guess Vince won't stand a chance. While I can't argue that Bush may be the best player on the best team in College football, after Vince's singlehanded perfomance last night, he makes a hell of a case for being the most valuable player accounting for almost all of UT's yards and points.

And to add to the TBS coverage, Sahger had that little segment on Taylor's note from his departed grandma, but kept calling him Ramone when is name is freaking RAMONCE!
And their camera work is the worst I have ever seen (which is saying alot), getting fooled on every single fake by either team. Be thankful the Big10 doesn't have TBS in their TV contract.

USC never fell behind to a team as bad as Oklahoma State (with all due respect to the Oklahoma State fans here).
