THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
Facts of the matter

Wisconsin played the Horseshoe the way Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack once played the Copa Room in Vegas -- some of their most memorable road performances have been there. For three quarters, it looked like they might win in Ohio Stadium for the fourth consecutive game. But Ohio State running back Chris "Beanie" Wells and some self-inflicted wounds took care of the upset bid. The Badgers led 17-10 before Wells scored on two cutback runs for touchdowns. Two fourth-quarter miscommunications -- on an ill-advised fake punt and a Zach Brown fumble -- doomed the Badgers.
Shining moments

How can you top a punter-to-punter pass? On a first-quarter fake punt, Ken DeBauche threw a 31-yard pass to Paul Standring, the backup punter, setting up the Badgers' first score. The two players are also roommates. ? The Wisconsin offense became the first Ohio State opponent to register back-to-back touchdown drives to take a 17-10 lead.

I keep seeing the "our Defense was exhausted by the end" excuse from the Badger faithful.

I would like to just point out that if your players didn't spend so much time and energy trash talking, they wouldn't have been so near exhaustion and maybe could have just played football instead.

Between all of the Miami style taunting and Randle El's blatant attempt to injure Gholston its hard to have any respect for BB or his team. When you add in his scheduling habits, public stance on not playing road games at night and his weak ass attempts to get his criminal player's punsihment lifted so he could play in this game it becomes impossible.

Gholston was engaged and squeezing down the line when Randle-El cracked from the slot and dove straight into the back of his knee. It was like a bug hitting the windshield but the intent was there.
I saw that play and Bielima pitched a fit about the call.

Shifting gears on offense puts OSU in fast lane Tressel switches to run after Badgers seize lead
Published on Sunday, Nov 04, 2007

COLUMBUS: How can a football team that averages 5.9 yards per rush, whose quarterback throws two touchdown passes and no interceptions, whose defense brutalizes the opposing quarterback with 10 sacks and gives up only 12 yards on the ground, win by a mere 21 points?
How does a team that gives up five plays of 22 or more yards ? including 50- and 46-yard passes ? commits seven penalties for 76 yards, has possession of the ball for less than 28 minutes and allows a successful fake punt win by as many as 21 points?

Cont...

this little bit from page 2 really sent me into never-never-land for a couple of minutes:

... Boeckman delivered 21 passes in the first two quarters, but only seven after halftime. Why did he ease up? It wasn't working.

It was almost as if Tressel knew that one way or another, his team would win the game, so why not conduct a little research? Why not find out if Boeckman can be the player who carries the offense? Or at least make him responsible for being that man, just in case he needs to do it later.

When Wisconsin scored two touchdowns in the third quarter to take the lead and force the Buckeyes' gut-check that Barton described, Tressel finally took the ball out of Boeckman's hands and gave it to Wells

life, CFB, and [presumably] JT's mind simply aren't that linear.

Ohio State 38 Wisconsin 17

With its perfect record hanging in the balance, Ohio State finally decided to play like a No. 1 team. :shake:

The Buckeyes' defense stiffened and Chris Wells ran for three second-half scores to help Ohio State overcome a third-quarter deficit and beat Wisconsin 38-17 on Saturday.

There were more than a few jittery moments in the second half, however.

from the Lima article regarding Beanie's running straight back to the bench rather than celebrating his scores:

[FONT=Georgia, Times New Roman, Times, serif]But Wells said it was focus, not fear of flying linemen, that sent him to the bench in such a hurry.
?It wasn?t to get away from Alex.,? he said. ?I wanted to send a message to my team, that even though we had scored a touchdown to get us back in the game, we still had to go out there and play football.?

that's some serious leadership for a sophomore...
