Game Thread Game One: #1 Ohio State 35, Northern Illinois 12 (9/2/06)

that has nothing to do with buckeyeboy's point that oregon wasn't any good because they didn't beat anybody good.

Neither did asking who we beat that was good. Our SOS was, what, #2? Although we lost to Texas, you and I both know we should've won that game, and aside from USC no one else came within two parsecs of playing Texas as well as we did. We should not be ashamed of either of the two losses we had, whilst Oregon got nuclear detonated at home by USC.

You're making my point for me. All I'm saying is that saying "who did you beat" doesn't really prove how good or bad the team was. Since we were a damn good team last year and you can say the same about us.

First of all, I pointed out that ND (#9 final AP poll) was a good team. Do you honestly refuse to admit that they were a good team last year? Let me tell you, you'd be in the minority of people making that claim.

Second, I don't see why you are so easy to criticize me for using the "who did you beat" argument, while you immediately agree with Mili's "how did you fare in the games you lost" argument. I'm not saying that I disagree with the second argument; in fact, I think it is directly relevant as an indication of how good a team is. However, I fail to see why you agree with the first but not the second.

That's weird. I had always been taught that God created Garrett Wolfe earlier, and then Garrett Wolfe created Man. And then God told Adam to pick a mate, and Adam went through the animals and named them all, but didn't want any of them as a mate. Then he was introduced to Garrett Wolfe. Adam, who was far from homosexual, quickly developed a man-crush on Garrett Wolfe. But Garrett Wolfe, much like the Coyote and Roadrunner cartoons, was able to out-smart Adam. Finally, Adam's attempts to catch Wolfe with sleeping gas backfired, and Adam went into a deep sleep. We all know what happens from that point...

First of all, you look in the dictionary under overrated and you see touchdown jesus. They weren't that good last year. Afterall....who did they beat? :roll2:

Second, I don't see where I agreed with Mili's point. MY point remains that saying "who did they beat" is a bad way of determining how good or bad a team is.

Creative, hilarious. I think these have been some of my favorite posts.

Isn't Adam working as Garrett's street agent now?
