Game Thread Game One: #1 Ohio State 35, Northern Illinois 12 (9/2/06)

Good reply , but i am stressing wolfe's ability to make us look bad not out poor execution. I think it was wolfe more than us.

So, knowing about Wolfe's ability, you would still want to match someone up on him?

You are talking out both sides of your mouth here....

The safeties were poor yesterday...O'Neal and Mitchell both missed WAY too many tackles to beat Texas.

game

I also noticed that when Albert Dukes checked in he missed an important block.....it's not surprising he is not getting more playing time. Seems like a loafer and a bit lazy.....not taking advatange of his PT.
there must be some reaason he isnt playing more, and that could be it. but there was a lot of poor execution on D

Remember that I am saying that I would have had someone on him when he left the backfield as on a flare or screen, or at least tell the D to have at least one guy go with him. If he cant catch the pass he is out of the play. THey then would have had to throw it to a less talented player. I agree about the safeties

Sorry...but your simplification of the situation does not equate to actual football. No offense, but if it was that easy, there would never be a point scored nor would there ever be a "star."

Garret Wolfe is amazing. He is going to tear up the MAC if he can stay healthy. If he performs this well the rest of the year, and NIU goes 10-2 only losing to OSU and Iowa, I think he makes an appearance in NYC for the Heisman presentation.

I thought this was a good way to open. Enough good stuff to get some confidence and make sure the outcome was never in doubt, but enough bad stuff so they're not overconfident and they know they have to get better. I was extremely impressed with Troy throwing from the pocket, but then he had all day. I feel good about the offense, so-so about the D (here's hoping it was Wolfe being that good and not the D being that bad) and not so good about the kicking game. Although I though Pettrey had shown more leg all year so I'm not sure why he wasn't in for the long attempt. And why the hell did Zwick come in in the middle of a series??

Tressel hiding for Texas

As you should know jim tressel didnt do a lot of fancy stuff because he knows we are playing texas next week. This game could have been 60-0 but it wasent and thank god it wasent. As you have notest, you didnt see flip fake runs by ted ginn, you didnt see troy smith running, and you didnt see us trying that much in the second half. We didnt show anything to texas. Also i think the only reason we know texas won last year is because troy smith didnt play the whole game, and when he was in it he got us points, unlike justin zwick who just got us field goal after field goal. We all know troy smith wants this game bad, and he will explode even worse than he did against notre dame..:oh:

I never said it would be easy. I just think something can be done, when in the 4th quarter in a game where one player has done what Wolfe did. I cant remember one play in the fourth q where someone went with him.
And what I say does equate and no offense but your statement about "never a point etc" isnt quite correct in regards to what we are discussing.
Being a "star" is why people are followed or "keyed" on or dbl teamed.

I think Wolfe is one of the best backs we have played in years. Heck I think he is one of the best backs ive seen in years.

Nevermind....we are on two different wavelengths here or I am completely misunderstanding what you are trying to say.

Did you ever play or coach at all?

He can hide all he wants but if our defense plays and tackles like they did in the NIU game in Austin we are screwed. That would mean our offense would have to score at least 48 points.
