Fairly happy for the first game, but let me say this....our defense better learn to wrap up on tackles and shed blocks, or it's gonna be a long day on the 9th.
I blame Tressel a little bit for the Zwick fumble. I know it was a good idea to get Smith out of there, but in the middle of a drive?
Definitely could've waited until the next series. Plus, I think you reward TS for driving to the red zone. I think we left 10 points on the field today, but overall great start.
Well maybe, I just thought the first fumble was followed by a 3 and out and a score, so I don't count that one as a fully lost.*cough* 17+ *cough*
You can't blame JT for Zwick tripping over a lineman's feet and fumbling the hand off.
I just looked at the D stats and B Mitchell led all tacklers today. Bad sign.
Agreed to an extent...but judging from the Dline calls, the plan was to bounce Wolfe all day. I saw more of a problem in the outside fits from the safeties and LBs. Mitchell may have led the team in tackles but I would guess he also led the team in missed tackles as well.
The fits and angles are the biggest piece of a young defense...look back at some of the early 04 threads...that is what we discussed mostly. However, the difference this year is a dominant Offense that can cover some of the defensive growing pains.
I expect this to be a dominant defensive unit.
