I'm not sure Ohio State could have picked a worse opening opponent. If the Buckeyes lose (entirely possible), their season is shot. And even if they win but their young defense gives up a bunch of yards to Garrett Wolfe (more probable), mass panic will ensue heading into the Texas game.

I havent been really that intent on saying that the bucks are going to the NC game or that they will win the big ten. In 22 hours i will finally be able to see what this defense can put together. If it is as good as i think it can be I think we will all be in for a good season.

G if you make time you have to go to St Johns arena to see the Band play(totally awesome), and see the band at the rotunda(north end, totally awesome) and the Buckeye Grove SE corner outside. where they plant a tree for every All American.

Sitting around in my underwear....
I had the pleasure of meeting and having a few cocktails with a some Northern Illinois fans tonight at the Varsity Club. One of the fans happened to be NIU's backup QB's (Dan Nicholson) father. He had some interesting comments he's heard from his son and his teammamtes.
Let me first say that these guys were' top-shelf, some of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.
Here's what they said of note:
- After watching film of Ohio State from last year, said they NEVER witnessed a defense as impressive as Ohio State's.
- Said the NIU coaches expect to see Beanie carry the ball about 10 times tomorrow.
- Stated that everyone is worried about their defense going up against our high-powered attack. He said that the offense might try and do more than they can to make up for those deficiencies. Said they couldn't stop raving about Troy Smith.
- Said don't be surprised to see NIU rotate QBs a little. They feel both are more than capable, but Novak went with Novak because of his experience.
- He went on and on about how impressed everyone was with our skill positions. Specifically noted Troy's mobility, Teddy's speed, and Pitt's hard-nosed running-style. He also mentioned they were impressed with Roy Hall's physical nature at WR. He was unaware that Roy will be sitting out Saturday's game.
- They singled out Quinn Pitcock. They were in awe of how strong he was in the trenches.
- Said that NIU's players feel that the game will be a high-scoring shootout. They feel our defense will not able to stop them on offense.
- He absolutely raved about Joe Novak. Said Novak has quite the disdain for Tom Amstutz of Toledo though.
- Stated the majority of NIU fans who went to scUM last year, hated it. Couldn't stand the arrogance. They were also less than impressed with the Big House.
- One of the guys just came from the walk-through and stated everyone's jaw dropped when they walked in the 'Shoe. He said he might have to pick up some adult diapers for his crew before they go in tomorrow.
It's not much, but I thought I'd share.
