Game Thread Game One: #1 Ohio State 35, Northern Illinois 12 (9/2/06)

Do you really think Wolfe has even a remote chance at the Heisman from NIU? Even if he were to rush 2,000 yards?

:osu:
Depends what we do this year.

If we beat Ohio State and/or Iowa, hell yeah he has a chance. He may not win it, but he has a shot at getting to New York.

With our schedule, and his abilty IF he stays healthy for all 12 games he has a legit chance at getting 2,000. If we play 14 games, 2,000 yards can be reached almost easily (again if he plays in all games).

Buckeyes Practice for Texas, Pretend otherwise

The Ohio State football team went to Capital University last Thursday night for a specific reason, and it wasn’t to glean pointers from the Crusaders’ football team.

It wasn’t to prepare for Saturday’s game with Northern Illinois, either. Playing under lights on an unfamiliar field is no way to prepare for a mid-afternoon match in the Shoe.

As much as the Ohio State coaches and players are pretending they’re focused only on Northern Illinois, they know full well you can’t afford to prepare for a revenge game against the defending national champion with just one week’s practice. Last Thursday night was about the Horns

Night Practice...Again
August 24 2006 10:44 PM
saturdaylights

It hasn't received a lot of pub - none that I know of in fact - but Ohio State football is going through another evening practice tonight. This is on top of the weeknight practice a few days ago that drew almost 30,000 fans. However, instead of using Ohio Stadium again, tonight's practice (which just wrapped up) is being held at Capital University. This night practice thing can be officially classified as "out of the norm" which, in my book, is a welcome change.

Our recent success has been dismal for games under the saturday night lights. Wisconsin 2003, Texas and Penn State last year? Eh, not so good. Tressel, apparently firmly aware of Einstein quotables and just good common sense, knows "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result." Makes sense. What's more, if OSU were to pull of the night game victories at Texas and Iowa, the move will look downright...Einstein-ian. My question is do you believe the change will have a positive impact for Ohio State?

NIU guys, wolfe is a very good back who deserves all of the attention he is currently receiving. however, he would never get a full page article in the NYT and USA Today if they weren't opening up against the preseason #1 team (buckeyes or any other preseason #1 for that matter)

My opinion on the night practice is that it will have no bearing on our success or lack thereof in night games.
