Game Thread Game One: #1 Ohio State 35, Northern Illinois 12 (9/2/06)

That's probably fairly accurate. Providing Wolfe stays healthy after Saturday.
Yeah I actually agree.

You have to figure we'll lose a game in conference. The key is winning the big games in the West (like Toledo).

In 2004 we only lost 1 conference game, but because we lost to Toledo we didn't go to the MAC Championship Game. Last year we lost 2 conference games (Akron, Ball State) but because we beat the MAC West elite (Toledo, WMU, CMU) win go to the Title game.

We need to win the MAC this year. If 9-3 (well 10-3) does it, then I will take it in a heartbeat. If 8 or 9 wins does it, I'll take it.

Of course I will also take 13-0 and a BCS bowl.

They may take him out early if the score gets too lopsided, say in the first or second quarter.

:osu:
No chance that happens in the 1st quater and I REALLY REALLY doubt in the 1st half. For him to be out we will have to be down by a good 35 points.

However if we are down by a good margin late in the 3rd or into the 4th, I would expect to see Clanton, Anderson, Prime, etc. to get carries.

They'll keep their starters in all day. They need Wolfe to get 100 yards to be able to even sniff the Heisman.
It's not about sniffing or even winning the Heisman. The #1 goal is winning the MAC. That's why we don't have a Wolfe for heisman campaign like we did with Michael Turner.

Now if we somehow pull the upset and Wolfe goes for 150, I would expect us to get a campaign going.

Do you really think Wolfe has even a remote chance at the Heisman from NIU? Even if he were to rush 2,000 yards?
