Scout $ - 1/3 - Campbell ends the charade and recommits to UM... photo gallery.

Army AA game thoughts:

Justin Turner gave up a half dozen passes or so, one for a TD. Also missed a few tackles on the perimeter. Still will be a good player for UM.

Jeremy Gallon was fairly quiet, letting a few punts bounce. He had a nice sliding catch over the middle (from Boyd?) for about 25 yards as two DBs sandwiched him. Served as a FG holder for UM kicker Gibbons.

William Campbell made a few plays in the backfield, but was fairly quiet and a bit laid back out there. Seems to play similar to past big DTs at UM. May end up at OL.

Former verbals:

Kevin Newsome was an excellent runner but mediocre passer, an undeveloped/poor man's Michael Robinson.
Bryce McNeal was pretty quiet.

Turner had a great game, don't know why or how you are trying to spin it as him having a bad game. Any of the receptions that he did give up he was all over the receiver and tackled said receiver almost as soon as they caught the ball. He didn't give up any big plays and he held the #1 player in the country- Rueben Randle in check. Turner was all over Randle like flies on you know what.

Turner also blew up a screen pass, had a very impressive acrobatic INT, and he broke up a few passes as well. I saw two bad plays out of him the entire game, one where he timed his jump horribly and gave up a TD to Pat Patterson and another play where he whiffed on a tackle.

In all Turner had a very good game and a great week of practice. Not only did the "gurus" at Scout drool all over his performance in the week of practice and in the game, but so did the ones at Rivals. Turner to me looks like the best DB in the state of Ohio for sure, much better than Jamie Wood, and easily one of the top 50 players in the nation. The kid is super-athletic and it's very rare to see 6'2" corners with good hips.

Jeremy Gallon didn't have a very big game because he was injured. Gallon got injured in practice and because of it had very limited playing time in the game. He did have a nice catch for 35+ yards in which he got sandwiched by two defenders and still held onto the ball.

The entire week of practice, Gallon was mentioned by both Scout and Rivals as being the biggest surprise and being THE STAR receiver of the East and making big play after big play and burning future Ohio State DB Jamie Wood time and time again.

You sound like Jamie's biggest fan. :roll1:

He did merit "Honorable Mention" for best tackler :wink2:

No big plays, you know - other than that TD :tongue2:

He had a solid outing and showed his potential. Those who adore Michigan hail it as greatness, those who loathe them hail it as failure. It was neither.
Turner was beaten three times in coverage and gave up about 4-6 other passes (with close coverage)Given the handcuffing rules of the game, the coverage was hardly a matter of concern, but he did not have a great game. He also whiffed on two consecutive 1v1 tackles.

No one but Michigan fans are selling that INT as evidence of anything but a bad pass. Turner will be a very good one at UM, but that ball would've been caught by most DBs on roster. It was a lame duck that hung up there with no receiver to contest.

Keep arguing with yourself and being bitter. No one is comparing Wood and Turner except your fandom.

Boy, where have I heard that last line before?

Again, keep ranting on BUCKEYEplanet when someone dares to not rave about Gallon's practice efforts during the GAME PERFORMANCE feedback.

Gallon was very good during the week and I predicted he'd do well up north in the TSUN thread. The constant chest thumping (which you continue as though it has value) over a slot-dot besting a pure safety in 1v1 coverage is pretty humorous though.

I guess you must've missed this and this.....
Funny, I feel like that reading your ongoing rants here. You mean like THIS?

Impressive and acrobatic? Seriously?

Guess what, two bad plays = a bad game most days. I think Turner will be very good for you guys, but coming on a Buckeye site to chastize us for not drooling all over him is just plum dumb. Especially when you spend a third of your post running down a Buckeye commit.
