GA QB Dylan Raiola (Nebraska Signee)

I'd have to imagine USC?

That said I'm mixed on this one. Obviously the guy has a very live arm but on the other hand he's a pretty big kid. He'll probably get even bigger considering his dad was an OL too.

Just depends what he does. If he balloons up to 260 then yeah probably is better off somewhere else but if he keeps himself between 225-235 he'll be fine.
Because we all know how much Lincoln Riley loves a non-mobile QB.

I'm guessing after the last few weeks of the season and then the ttun loss that maybe Day is realizing that he needs a moderately mobile QB. It was a quick shift to Keinholz pretty late. 2024 is a long ways away.

It adds such a different dynamic to the offense. A lot of the sputters we had could have been prevented by having even a moderate runner at QB.

I want to say you’re right but until I see a shift from Day, it’s status quo.

This signing was so far in the future, that I don’t have much emotion over this decomittment. It sucks because he was rated so high, and is talented. But there will be other names that emerge, and I worry about Ryan Day recruiting QBs as much as I’d worry about Hartline with WRs. And tbh, I really like Devin Brown, and I really like what Kienholz may be able to do in this offense.

And to be perfectly honest, as long as the Portal is around, I don’t care if the #1 recruit de commits at whatever position. He can be replaced by a kid who actually produced at the college level, against much more difficult competition than the 5star from HS. I pose this question, the #1 QB recruit in 2023 is Arch Manning, if you were to pick, would you rather have him starting for you and not knowing how he’ll perform at the college level. Or say,Grayson McCall from Coastal Carolina who has put up stellar stats against actual collegiate football players. You may only have him for 1-2yrs(not sure of his eligibility), and Manning for 3-4, but it’s no different than OSU getting Fields, and losing Martell. At the time, many were up in arms over Martell leaving, and OSU didn’t get a very highly ranked QB, but OSU got Justin Fields. Who kept the program elite and bridged the gap to CJ Stroud.

Still bet he ends up here.
It's rare that this happens. I can only think of 2 de-commitments that ended up signing with OSU - Louis Irizarry decommited and commited to Cryami then signed (and subsequently got in trouble) with OSU and Lejond Cavazos that decommited and signed with OSU then transferred to North Carolina. Neither was much of a loss.

I was the first to go on record months ago I wasn’t very impressed with him.
Basically I was told I was an idiot.
I said he had a live arm but was an enormous kid, not in great shape and slower than Big Ben in his last year. His stats this year as he moved up in comp took a huge dip.
So I’m about the only person on here that can honestly not be upset about his de-commitment.
Aside from potential impact at WR, though not likely, I really don’t care.
We need to go back and start recruiting alpha males, athletes, and tough kids at the position.
Not kids who have never been in a fight, had a qb coach since 6th grade, play no other sports, and plan their entire life around 7 on 7 camps.
Wish the kid well but I really don’t give a crap as long as Day takes this opportunity to re-evaluate his criteria for the position.

“I watched some of this and echo the comments on his arm talent.

But came away concerned about his mobility.
He is pretty nifty in escaping pressure within the pocket v hs kids.
But he is enormous and plodding at times.
Ben Rothlisberger vibes.
If you are bummed Stroud doesn’t keep it on the zone read prepare for more of the same.
I’d guess he is in the 5.3 forty range.” - Diddy on 10.30.22 in this thread.

I mean yeah though lol...

He's going to have to work to keep his weight down I think. Hopefully it doesn't impact him too much at the next level. Just checked his stats and they weren't as good as I thought they'd be. Does he play in a tough league or something?

Edited: wow Keinholz statistically far better than Dylan. Roughly same completion percent, more yards, nearly twice as many TD throws, same number of INTs basically, but a much better runner.

I wouldn’t use their stats as a comparison. SD football competition isn’t exactly all that special….
But what makes Kienholz so special is his athleticism. And he also seems like a complete gamer who will choke someone over a game of checkers(not saying Dylan wouldn’t)

I am actually ok with this decommitment sticking. The more I looked into it, he now appears to be drama, and his numbers this past season don't stick out.

The biggest thing is he is another QB that doesn't have dual threat potential.

I think Stroud showed us, that the QB run opens up this O. I may be alone when I can both appreciate Stroud, but also glad to have the opportunity to move in another direction.

With that said, I hope I eat crow about Stroud with the looming CFP.
