GA DT Elisha Shaw (Alabama Medical Scholarship)

Adding him to the interior to go along with edge players we have landed in this class and the last few....oh my.

Elisha Shaw. Elisha Shaw. Elisha Shaw.

All 6'6", 299lbs of....Elisha Shaw.

C'mon Urb...I did my part of subliminal influence....land this one!!

I get the impression he is the kind of player that will really make all those around him much better. Huge impact kind of kid. Would absolutely love to bring him in.

Cleaning up the main forum found this interesting story:

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...haws-scholarship-despite-career-ending-injury

Shaw still had a big signing day moment thanks to coach Nick Saban and Alabama.

It will always be a day that the 6-foot-4, 310-pound senior will never forget.

He committed to Alabama at a news conference along with his Tucker teammates. But he won’t count toward the recruiting class; the Crimson Tide offered to put him on medical scholarship as a student coach or trainer so he can still get a college education.

Good for the Tide and A&M. Think that tOSU has done that in the past. If a kid would commit to an offer, then get hurt in their HS senior season, have their schollie pulled by the college, then other kids would not be so quick to commit to that college. So, Alabama is doing the right thing (by the kid), and for their own self-preservation (on the recruiting trail), as well as the morally right thing to do. Ultimately, this is a great 'feel-good' story, but I would think that ALL colleges would do this. I have been told that I'm a bit of a Pollyanna, so it is great that this happened, even if for the wrong reasons. Having the kid's dreams of an NFL career (or college) taken away, at least they can have an expense paid college education to be able to earn a living with.......Go Bucks
