2027 GA DL David "DJ" Jacobs is a Buckeye!!!

Always thought he was a 'big fish in a little pond'. When you get a 'big fish in a big pond', then that's note-worthy. Guess that's why these kids go to camps, to showcase their skillset against elite competition. Some rise, and some fall, nothing new here.

Tangent but you're right, Ojo has looked awful two straight years at camps. I get he has good size and athleticism but that hasn't turned him anywhere close into a competent OT, let alone a 5* one.
Yeah, Tech paid him based on what they thought he could become. And maybe he does become an All American and 1st round pick, but he has a long way to go. And it seems like he made a name for himself dominating smaller DL competition, and this is the issue I've had with OL recruiting since forever. These highly rated OL are almost always the biggest players on the entire field, and can just embarrass most HS lineman. But you really get to see what they're made of at some of these camps when they face similar levels of competition with players of comparable size. I remember seeing Sam Greer manhandling DL last year, Ojo looks like he needs to bulk up and work on his strength in a major way. Problem is, he won't need to work on that until college, because he'll go back to HS and dominate next season as well

Heck JCO, isn't that the expectation of each and every 5* that signs on the dotted for tOSU? Mine certainly is.....and always marvel at the number of 3*s that get coached up and obtain that coveted first round status.....

Count me as one of those 'guys on a ledge' when a recruit visits elsewhere, especially one that hasn't (?) had a visit to the Oval etc. Cannot imagine that the recruiting staff isn't worried as well.....anyway, would rather have a kid go away now, rather than later. And y'all know that everyone will be putting out the red carpet anytime a 5* comes to visit. Might be hard for an 18 year old to see though the glitz. But the kids these days are waaay more savvy than the kids of yesteryear.

Not sure what you are talking about here. From the post above he's coming to Ohio State on those days.

Guess what am talking about are the public media, of "Ohio State 5* going to visit Texas" type of stuff. If fake news, my bad, wife laughs at me when I take the written word seriously. Hey, hope he's solid to tOSU. But if I were in demand, I'd take these trips, just to see what else is out there. And as Yogi used to say, "it's not over until it's over".
