Five-star Georgia safety Rashad Roundtree releases his top six, Ohio State and Michigan State make the cut: Buckeyes recruiting

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Another five-star prospect trimmed his list, and Ohio State made the cut yet again.

This time it was safety Rashad Roundtree of Evans (Ga.) Lakeside, who posted on his public Twitter profile Saturday night that the Buckeyes, Alabama, Auburn, Duke, Georgia and Michigan State are his current top six.

Rated by Rivals.com the No. 2 safety in the 2015 class, Roundtree racked up more than 20 scholarship offers, but he was also closely considering ones from Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, South Carolina and others before trimming his list.

Roundtree visited Ohio State in mid-June, a time during which he toured the Buckeyes' facilities and spent time with head coach Urban Meyer in his office.

Before the visit, Roundtree, a 6-foot, 189-pound prospect, had a solid relationship with Ohio State co-defensive coordinator Chris Ash, who is uncoincidentally in charge of the Buckeyes' secondary.

"I'm always talking to Coach Ash and Ohio State is a good school that I like a lot," Roundtree told cleveland.com in March. "It feels great that they are recruiting me this hard. They always tell me they get so many highlight films, but they only choose like 10 to actually evaluate. So it is really nice that they think really highly of me. It means a lot.

"I know I am going to take an official visit there."

#2: Rashad Roundtree
Unlike most of the prospects on this list, Roundtree didn't emerge on the recruiting scene until after his junior season. Once the film of him knocking people's blocks off surfaced, it was clear that he was an elite level prospect. Roundtree went from unranked to being a five-star - a leap that isn't exactly common - and it was mainly for his ability to read, react and deliver crushing blows. What makes Roundtree's exploits of laying the lumber so impressive is that they not only come in the secondary, but he loves to come up and help against the run and get after the quarterback. When Roundtree is on the prowl, nobody on the field is safe.
