This is not meant for you specifically, but rather for everyone who thinks tOSU needs to "up their NIL game." NIL deals are funded with private money, not university (or athletic dept.) funds. How many of you have either donated funds or know someone personally who has donated to an tOSU collective? If you have not donated, then you are bitching about other people not giving enough of their private assets to fund the NIL agreements. I'll cheer for tOSU football team, both basketball teams, both hockey teams, wrestling, and even tOSU tiddly winks team if they had one. None of that gives me the right to complain that other private individuals are not donating enough of their money to fund athletes. For those who do choose to donate to that cause I am grateful.Until OSU ups their NIL game, we should not feel totally secure with any verbal.
I realize this, but other universities have been able to navigate the up front money situation from donors much better than OSU.This is not meant for you specifically, but rather for everyone who thinks tOSU needs to "up their NIL game." Maybe I wasn't clear. The university does not fund deals for NIL, solicit funds for NIL, or negotiate NIL deals with student athletes. Universities do not control the purse strings with NIL deals. Now, if you are saying those individuals who are funding the collectives and distributing the funds through NIL deals need to do a better job with tOSU student athletes that is a different story. But blaming the university for something that is funded and controlled outside of their purview is asinine.I realize this, but other universities have been able to navigate the up front money situation from donors much better than OSU.
OSU should be at the level AL and UGA, but not at such a huge level like the U or UF.
OSU should be able to figure it out. We will fall behind.
Yep, these southern kids who commit real early seem to never work out well for us. Easier to just assume they will end up not here in the end.
Really any kid from 2 classes ahead who commits' this early its a long long road ahead
Dude, do you even Trayvon Grimes? Are we still blaming NIL on stuff like this?
Southern kids have been Committing early to Ohio State and ultimately DeCommitting for as long as I've followed recruiting.
This is absolutely nothing shocking nor new. This likely happens even without NIL.

Oh, I completely understand what you are saying. Somehow, other universities have maximized their efforts to get their smaller alumni and fan bases to contribute. They are involved as much as they can be legally, which right now, there aren't many rules. Our collectives, working with the university are not getting it done.Maybe I wasn't clear. Jontae Gilbert
committed to Ohio State last summer and the 2025 four-star defensive back remains blocked in with the Buckeyes but he’s getting significant pressure from Tennessee (and he wore Vols gloves on Saturday) along with Georgia and others. Some big visits are coming up as the Atlanta (Ga.) Douglass standout gets pressed by SEC schools.

The 2025 four-star cornerback from Atlanta (Ga.) Douglass has been committed to Ohio State since late July but the Buckeyes are going to have significant pressure to keep Gilbert in that recruiting class. He wore Tennessee gloves at the OT7 Phoenix two weekends ago and the Vols are definitely a major contender with Georgia and now Alabama after the Crimson Tide offered in recent days. Getting complimented by coach Nick Saban was a huge part of his visit and Alabama is definitely in this now.
