G/F Evan "The Villain" Turner (2010 Naismith Winner)

I think this is the right choice for him. How can you NOT go when you are projected to go so high? Just my two cents.

I will miss seeing him on the floor of The Schott next year, but Tha Kid has got to do what Tha Kid has got to do!

Best of luck in the NBA, Evan!!:osu:

Evan gave us quite a ride. It was so much fun and I can't wait for the night when his jersey goes up in the rafters.

His departure raises an interesting question though: Can Diebler or Buford take over the point or will we hand it over to the incoming freshman Aaron Craft?

I would've loved to see him for one more year but this was clearly the right decision for him. Thanks ET, and best of luck in the NBA. :)

Haven't heard any commentary on Evan being paired with Blake Griffin potnetially. Probably b/c Blake sat the entire season. Could be a nasty combination in the future...I wonder if Evan would like an inside offensive presence?

Considering the Clippers history I hope to god this doesn't happen.

I wish ET the best of luck in the NBA, he has/will represent Buckey Nation well.

EDIT: After watching the video of him giving his decision you could tell he had thought long and hard about going to the pros. I also saw at the end that he said he will be back at tOSU in the future, I'm sure that means he will be back to get his degree.

"The past few weeks have been really hard for me. I've been agonizing over my decision due to the simple fact of how much I love the Ohio State University." ? Evan Turner | Video

Ohio State basketball players and coaches were among those on hand for Evan Turner's announcement that he will enter the NBA draft.

When Evan Turner decided Tuesday that it was time to choose, his mind drifted to some long-ago advice from an AAU coach.

The coach told him to imagine a scholarship offer made to him and then rescinded. If that would leave him heartbroken, the coach told Turner, he should take the offer while he had the chance.

Turner said he followed that advice in choosing to play basketball at Ohio State. He did likewise in deciding to forgo his senior year at Ohio State to enter the NBA draft, in which he is projected to be among the first three players chosen.

"If I one day woke up and had an opportunity to play in the NBA, live my dream and take care of my family, and I was heartbroken (if I did not take advantage of it), that probably pretty much says I need to go," Turner said in announcing his decision during a news conference in the Schottenstein Center yesterday.

Ohio State men's basketball star Evan Turner to leave Buckeyes for the NBA

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- If Evan Turner had been forced into a decision about his future five minutes after Ohio State's season ended with an upset loss to Tennessee in the Sweet 16 two weeks ago, the Buckeyes may have had a chance.

"I was still 50-50 a little bit," Turner said Wednesday. "I knew there was a great chance it could have been my last game, but I was still upset about losing to Tennessee."

At a news conference Wednesday, college basketball's national player of the year announced what had seemed like the obvious choice for so long, that he was giving up his senior year at Ohio State to declare for the NBA Draft.

"I think it was tough, it was definitely tough," Turner's older brother, Darius, said by phone after the announcement. "He was just being loyal. He's a real loyal person, and he said, 'I want to be true to my team,' so he was real torn because of that. But I feel like he's ready, and I think he's starting to feel he's ready."

Thank you Evan Turner and for all you've done for Buckeye basketball. You represented the program as well as any player I can remember and your exploits on the court are the stuff of legends.

I hope you have a long and prosperous career in the NBA. :oh:
