G/F Evan "The Villain" Turner (2010 Naismith Winner)

Great article. Really demonstrates how far Turner has come, just like the poster earlier in the thread stated. Brought up as a secondary player who could challenge other guys in practice to an Ohio State recruit is impressive. Like Coach Pingatore says, his best days are still ahead of him...

Senior Derrick Rose, whose shot at the overtime buzzer gave Chicago Simeon the 2006 Class AA state championship, was a unanimous Associated Press first-team all-state selection for the second straight year.

Westchester St. Joseph 6-6 senior Evan Turner received 19 first-place votes. The Ohio State signee averaged 22 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
Rose and Turner each scored 29 points when Simeon beat St. Joseph 74-66 in the City-Suburban Showdown at Northwestern University on Feb. 17.

St. Joseph's Turner proved, improved

March 29, 2007
BY PATRICK Z. MCGAVIN
Evan Turner entered his senior year at St. Joseph intending to prove he was one of the best players in the country. He started that process early. In the Chargers' first game of the year against Prospect at the St. Charles East Thanksgiving Tournament, Turner scored 31 points on 13-for-15 shooting and added 15 rebounds and two blocks.
''I was ready to play,'' Turner said.
The smooth 6-6 forward is a beguiling image on the court. He's long and lean and moves gracefully and dramatically. He has many ways to score around the basket, using his length and size to score over smaller players and his speed to move around post players.
Turner averaged 21 points and nine rebounds in leading the Chargers to a 25-5 mark and the Class AA supersectional, where St. Joseph lost to Simeon.

Ohio St. run thrilling to this future Buckeye

Chicago Tribune
Evan Turner can hardly wait to put on his Ohio State uniform next season and help the Buckeyes get back to the NCAA title game.

But first, Turner and St. Joseph teammate Demetri McCamey will represent Chicago in Tuesday night's Roundball Classic at the United Center. Joining them on the West team will be 6-9 Mac Koshwal of Boys To Men.

Roundball Classic Practices: Day One

Evan Turner, 6?6, PG/SG/SF, Signed with Ohio State
Chicago native Evan Turner was quietly one of the more consistent performers on the first day of practice. He handled the ball well in the open floor, got all of his teammates involved, and shot the ball much better from the perimeter then he has in the past. While comparisons to Brandon Roy might be a bit far fetched at the moment, the similarities in their game are certainly present. Turner has shown the ability to play all three perimeter positions, and might be forced into playing all three at times next year at Ohio State if Mike Conley Jr. decides to throw his name into the NBA Draft. In order for him to effectively reach his potential however, he must work diligently upon his consistency shooting the ball from the perimeter as well as his level of strength (weighs only 185 lbs at the moment).

In my mind, the only question or concern with Turner is his weight and strength......I am betting that over the summer he will be able to add both and be close to around 205-210 by the start of the season.

Turner hasn't gotten a ton of talk on the OSU boards because I think most do not know much about him but if I could describe him, the first thing that comes to mind is a versatile player who does everything well.
