if he was smart he'd stay for 4 years and earn a degree. we shall see.

That style of game sets up perfectly for his game. When OSU can go small, spread the floor and use their athleticism like that they look like a top 15 team. Opens up the floor for him to operate freely. He sees the floor so well for a freshman.

Going that small against a decent sized front line and they lose by 15. They were able to take advantage of an under-sized IU team. That being said, IU has got some nice pieces and they are going to be a tough out come tourney time if they continue to shoot the 3-ball like that. I like how Russell stayed within himself today and how the other guys rallied, especially Scott, when he went down with the cramping issues late. Kid keeps improving.

CBSSports.com Player of the Week: Ohio State's D'Angelo Russell

I know the Class of 2014 was strong.

I get that, I promise.

But it seems wild that D'Angelo Russell wasn't even a consensus top-10 national recruitbefore enrolling at Ohio State , especially considering what he's now doing at OSU.

"He's going to make a lot of money in the NBA," Northwestern's Tre Demps said of Russellafter watching him get 33 points, six assists and seven rebounds in OSU's win over Demps' Wildcats. Russell backed that with a 22-point, 10-assist, six-rebound effort in Sunday's win over Indiana, meaning he averaged 27.5 points, 8.0 assists and 6.5 rebounds in a pair of victories while shooting 65.6 percent from the field and 44.4 percent from 3-point range. Consequently, he's the CBSSports.com National Player of the Week.

Cont'd ...

Also, I was doing some research on College Basketball Reference after seeing that D'Angelo was averaging close to 20 ppg (DAR is currently at 19.8), 5 apg, and 5 rpg. Now, the CBR database only goes back to the 1997-98 season, but in that span only 9 players have put up a 20-5-5 stat line and none of them have been freshmen. Just further proof that this kid is a very special talent.
