Gold Pants
Last nights loss was heartbreaking indeed. Especially for the Seniors who gave it their all. This was literally a game of inches and seconds. What if Bryant Browning does not jump before the snap when we are inside the Texas 5 yd line? What if there was a better snap on Petry's missed 50 yd. field goal? What if we stop Texas on the fake punt and they come up a couple inches short instead of a couple inches ahead of the marker? What if we took just a little bit more time off the clock before scoring the go ahead TD leaving Texas under one minute to play instead of two? What if Rob Rose makes the INT to ice the game? What if Marcus Freeman gets the fumble in bounds? What if the 4th down mark was placed an inch short rather than an inch ahead of the marker? What if Anderson Russell is 6 inches inside the reciever instead of outside and he makes the tackle?

I cannot recall ever watching a game when inches and seconds played such a vital part. And yet, in a game where virtually no one gave tOSU a chance to win, we were ahead with only two minutes remaining in the game. Give Texas credit for getting it done when it had too. They played their hearts out as well.

Despite that, and the few other heartbreaking losses that have occurred over the last few years, the FUTURE IS BRIGHT for tOSU football. Yes, we lose some great people and players like JL, MF, TB, MJ, RN and a number of others. Perhaps even BEANIE (though I hope not). WE LOVE YOU GUYS!!

But make no mistake about it: THE FUTURE OF THIS TEAM IS BRIGHT AND PROMISING. There will still be growth pains as we lose 28 Seniors, and as we perhaps make adjustments on the coaching staff. But we have the foundation to build and the talent to win. Coach Tressel is building a foundation for potential greatness with the most recent recruiting classes. IF the 2010 class is a great as the 08 and 09 class then the inches and seconds will start to go our way. You can count on it.

I am proud of this team and what they have accomplished. And as I envision new comers like Carter, Fields, Berry, Hyde, Fellows, Simon, Bell, Clarke, Brown and others put on the scarlet and gray uniforms, I get a big smile on my face. Really big.

Why?

BECAUSE THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT FOR OHIO STATE FOOTBALL!!

Excellent post from the OP.

One thing we need to do on the way is to drop all the bandwagon "fans" and the Neville Chamberlain defeatists who claim to be "fans" yet always whine and warn of our upcoming losses and demise. I can't stand those people. Unfortunately there's quite a few of them.

But the future is bright, and Pryor is going to shine. If we beat USC in September, we will restore our image on the national stage in full. The Debacle in the Desert will be just a distant memory, a historal footnote.

You mean like the a lot of the sky is falling posters at a certain "Nutty" forum... I concur. I'll take 10 win seasons and BCS bowls over an occassional great season and a lot of OK ones.
