There are tons of things you could do. If you are staying in Acadia, head to the top of Cadillac Mountain -- amazing views. There are also tons of hiking trails and places to kayak in the area. Bar Harbor is a great area. If your wife is a shopper, you could stop in Freeport and visit LL Bean and the tons of stores there (and you could hang out at Gritty McDuff's (brewery). Portland has a ton of breweries as well.

In Providence, have a meal on Federal Hill. Amazing italian restaurants there. You might want to head down to Newport -- it's a beautiful coastal town. The cliffwalk is great.

In Boston, you could take a trolley tour (or Duck Boat tour), which is a great way to see the city. The tours allow you to get out whenever you want and walk around. Faneuil Hall is a popular tourist place. To see lots of history, walk the Freedom Trail. A walk along the Charles River Esplanade is great, too -- lots of sailboats out that time of year. Harvard Square might not be your bag, but it's a spectacle. You could also head to the Sam Adams Brewery for a tour or visit the JFK Museum. Boston is truly a walking city, so bring comfy shoes! Just a short ride away from Boston is Salem and Cape Cod. Provincetown is VERY gay-friendly area -- they would welcome you with open arms. :p
