For you smokers out there...

The bar we watched the game at is in a county w/ a no smoking ordinance (Montgomery county, MD). All smokers went outside to smoke. It was great. One guy walked by us after being outside, and he reeked of smoke. If you smoke, and don't think you smell nasty and rancid, you don't know how wrong you are. :osu:

Franklin County (Columbus) has a smoking ban and it's great. I can wear my coat to a bar now in the winter time. I used to never wear a coat b/c I didn't want it stinking.

I'm assuming within the next 5 years the entire state will be smoke-free.

I'm actually doing a lot better than I expected. I slip up a little when I'm drinking and have a few, but other than that, I've been smoke free for going on 3 months now. Wow... 3 months, sure doesn't seem like it's been that long. I don't even think about cigarettes when I'm not drinking.
great work man. now for that roommate...
Greatest thing about the smoking ban is you can still smoke in most bars.
what exactly is the rule? I have noticed that some seem to care about the ban and others don't.

The rule about the ban is that a bar caught allowing smoking will be fined. Now, I know a couple bars that ask every person who smokes to pay a dollar to do so. This is because once in a blue moon they get caught, then use those dollars to pay off the fine. As far as I know, there is no increasing penalty for every occurance.

I quit smoking-except when i bum a couple when drinking-this summer, and I have noticed zero change in smelling, tasting, or breathing. Not saying it wasn't the healthy thing to do, but i haven't noticed any changes.

Don't know the exact rule, to be honest. I do know that bars are not allowed to have Ashtrays. And, it's not the individual smoker who'll get popped, it's the establishment. Some bars have the philosophy, We'll pay the fine - it's worth it because all the smokers come here to drink, and we don't get busted every day.

Not sure on what a bust is, I know it's per incident - so, if 1 smoking cop busts 2 people in a bar smoking, it's 2 fines, not 1. I think it's 75 bucks an incident, but I could be way off.

The Mrs. and I NEVER smoke in the house, but still smoke way too much. I wish to hell that somebody could have shown me a video of myself today 30 years ago as a 13 year old kid smoking with pals in the woods behind the elementary school. Just look at that sorry bastard sitting in his garage when its -5 degrees, shaking like a blind faggot at a weenie roast just to get that smoke in. At 1 1/2 packs a day each, we basically blow $400 a month, or to make it worse, $5000 a year to smoke. How flipp'in stupid is that?
