Game Thread For the Natty vs Notre Dame, Jan. 20th, 7:30 ET on ESPN

Gave a quick look-see over at IrishEnvy on their national championship thread.
Got a handful of posters that actually appear to evaluate competition with a logical mind.

The part that has and will continue to make me chuckle when looking at other teams pages (and I'm certain BP has elements of this) is that it's amazing to sit there and pump up all your team's positive in contrast to the competition while completing ignoring the glaring deficiencies of your own squad.
Example: Will Howard is trash. Domer D has best secondary that the Buckeyes will face. Buckeyes only beat Longhorns because Sark made a mistake.
All the while, missing the fact that Leonard is more suck on passing than good (he's had some positive impact throws, but sure as shit not consistent). Their WR room is meh. OL is banged up to the point it may be in worse shape than the Buckeyes.
Notre Dame defense is good, but statistics is the only metric that somewhat eliminates transitory effects. However, I don't think they have three level soundness like Texas does.

And lastly, playing with heart obviously impacts how a team goes and ND has played with a fair amount. Yet, these myopic twats don't realize or maybe just ignore what has been publicly stated by Buckeye players for weeks on end. This is net neutral at best for them.

Anyway, won't be wasting any more time over there.
Just not worth it when their own "logical" posters get shamed for doing so.
Texas without a doubt has probably the best secondary that OSU has faced.

PSU basically does not have any wide receivers worth a darn, and unbelievably UGA does not have many good wide receivers, and their TE's are not what they used to have. Indiana is just not elite and does the best they can with what they have.

Their fans need to recognize real.

ND has not faced position players like what OSU has, and let's wait and see if they still say their secondary is the best OSU has faced.

With that said, TTUN has probably one of the worst secondaries OSU has faced, and it was enough to slow down OSU, at least with not a very creative game plan that OSU put forth.

If Chip breaks out the magic scheme bag, OSU should expose ND.

Agreed. The intrigue will be what ND does. Will they copy Texas or will they play man like they always do? I’d imagine somewhere between.

Texas with how much zone they play really forced us to stay patient and unfortunately with 4 drives killed by bad penalties we really couldn’t do that.

Texas kind of bet we wouldn’t be able to not screw up at some point and they were right for the most part.

Leonard is a decent passer and a strong runner. Eweres didn’t run as often as Leonard and is nowhere near the runner Leonard is. Yet he still was effective. Tennessee’s qb ws good at running but didn’t have any receivers. As for defenses, I doubt ND has the speed Texas had in the defensive backs . Still, they puta blanket on Georgias receivers and on PSUs. My conclusion? ND wil be able to move the ball. Two real bulls at rb. Big D line, tough LBs, they keep thr game close for the first half.

I’m interested to see the film breakdowns for Texas to see if the offensive game plan was mid or Texas forced them into things they weren’t great at doing.

Early in the game they moved the ball well, but the execution wasn't quite there. As the game went on, they couldn’t run and force Texas into different looks and everything stagnated.

They’re better than they were, but running without the benefit of the passing game opening things is the weakness of this team. Hoping that ND can’t run a zone as well and Chip has different ways to attack.

I also hope they work in more screens to Henderson and WRs. Keep waiting for the tunnel screens they used in the first 3 games to come back. Especially since Henderson lines up wide.

If they didn't have all those penalties the score would have been worse. I blame those miscues more than anything. They were moving the ball at will most of the game.

Eh Georgia had people running free that game in the 2nd half they just couldn't catch a cold.
