figure this out using math. how fast was the puck (6ozs) moving to make the goal (90lbs) move 2 inches (ignoring the fact that the net is moored)

I'm going to guess that the shot was moving at about 105 MPH or thereabouts.

It is. Since the collision is inelastic (the bar dents), one should use conservation of momentum (mv) rather than conservation of kinetic energy (1/2mv^2)
