Watched Friday Night Lights this afternoon. Good movie, but it feels rushed when large sections of exposition from the book are gone.

I liked FNL's alot more before then I do now. The reason being, now I have found out how many things were either changed in that movie or just simply never happened.

In the movie Permian plays agianst Dallas Carter in the State Final Game, in real life they played in a Semi-Final game.

In the movie Boobie hurts his knee in the first game, in real life he hurt it in a pre-season scrimmage and was not even hit, he jacked his knee up on a cut.*The part where he hurt it on a cut, I do not know if that is totally true, but he did get hurt in a scrimmage, not a game.

In the movie that State Final game was played in the Astro Dome that year, in real life it in Austin, outside in a mud bowl caused by all the rain.

Plus there is other little things that I will post if I remember later.

And again, this is all what I "heard".

Altering details for dramatic effect is pretty standard in the movie industry. I think you probably have to look at it as its own story, not a rendition of real life or the book. I just thought it zoomed by too quickly. While it isn't about football, if you've ever read Ender's Game, you might enjoy this interview or these news releases where some of the issues with turning a book into a movie are discussed.

I saw North Dallas Forty, for the firts time, about a week ago. Didn't like it at all. I think most of my problem was getting past the 70's crap, but everyone that I've talked to about it said that they didn't like it either. Just too cheesy of a movie for me.

North Dallas Forty was a frigging awesome movie. Brian's Song was also very good, if you like the tear-jerker type...Piccolo was quite a guy.

Great movie about a fantastic person....I am named after Brian Piccolo.
