Gators tailback Adam Lane embraces embarrassing accident at Birmingham Bowl

"It was the best thing that could have happened," Lane said. "It got a lot of attention and just put me in a place where I was out there publicly and people knew who I was. I really didn't get a lot of grief from it. A lot of people were really more focused on how well I did in the game than anything.

"I feel like it was that way because I embraced it."

Holtz: Jeff Driskel became 'scapegoat' in toxic situation at Florida

Just a few days after Jeff Driskel made his Louisiana Tech debut with a career-high five touchdowns, Bulldogs coach Skip Holtz opened up Tuesday night during his radio show about his new quarterback, which included Driskel's recruitment and his time at Florida.

Holtz, who has spoken highly of Driskel since he landed on Tech's campus in March, delivered his strongest words Tuesday, noting the "difficult situation Driskel experienced at Florida.

"I think down at Florida, it got very toxic for him. He became the scapegoat," Holtz said. "He became the guy that was tied to losing at Florida as a fan base that does not take very well to losing. It really became a negative situation, which is unfortunate because he's such a great Christian young man with such great values who is a leader.

A bit over-reacting, but... don't have a problem with it. Don't taunt. Don't get flagged for it. And especially don't do that crap in a close game. It's not like he missed a block or something - he acted a fool, got caught, and cost his team just so he could have his 10s on SECN. Maybe a few players think before acting like Criminoles or Canes again.

The throat slash has been taboo in football for a long time. He deserved a chewing out from the coach.

The mighty Gators, doing the throat slash gesture against ... East Carolina.

McElwain called his players ''entitled,'' adding that it was clear they weren't ready to play earlier in the week when about 30 players showed up for practice Monday without their ankles taped.

Two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties after second-half touchdowns really set him off. He ripped defensive lineman Joey Ivie and running back Kelvin Taylor on the sideline and was still hot well after the final whistle.

''Embarrassing. We didn't deserve to win that ballgame,'' McElwain said. ''Our lack of discipline and understanding of how you play the game crept up, and it was embarrassing. We've got a long ways to go. It starts with understanding selfish acts hurt the team and will be dealt with. And it's not how it's going to be around here anymore.''

So, is this out of control, entitled program still Urban's fault?

Florida asks band to stop playing “Move Back You Suck” ditty

The year of marching band outrage in college football continued this weekend, although on a much more scaled back level compared to what Kansas State got in the middle of earlier this season. The University of Florida marching band has been asked to cease playing a certain stand tune after receiving email complaints about the song leading to Florida students adding the line “Move back you suck” to it.

Florida’s athletics department requested the band to stop playing its “You Can’t Do That” song that was usually played after a penalty on the opposing team. The request was made after the athletics department reportedly received numerous emails complaining about the student cheer that accompanied the song.

“The reason why it’s been stopped is because there have been too many complaints from fans to the athletic department that the student section was saying something else that the fans thought was vulgar and inappropriate,” University of Florida Associate Director of Bands Jay Watkins said in a report by WUFT. “This is a frustrating situation for all and a perfect example of how a few complaints or a few individuals doing the wrong thing negatively affect a great 10-year tradition.”
