Interesting reading Stricklins comments. Talked of all of their recent head coaches as chasing immediate success and not putting effort into culture and creating a good foundation. Makes you understand how they went from playing Bama close 2 years in a row to complete collapse in months. IMO Dan Mullen has his own character issues that fed into the players. It can work when you can be an underdog and recruit underrated guys with a chip. Doesn’t work when you can recruit anyone.

Zach Smith once talked about a conversation he had with Urban re: Mullen on one of his first few podcasts. The quote was (from Urban): “Dan? He’s a great coach, but I wouldn’t want to go out and have a beer with him.”
