I just received this week's edition of SI and inside there is a full page ad for Flashback football. This is a fantasy camp for "grown-up" kids (their word not mine) that takes place with the coaching staff, facilities, and former players of a university. The four universities that are part of the deal are Florida, USC, UCLA and Washington. Cost to attend $2,500 if your a player, $4,000 if your a coach and $6,000 if your an owner for a 2 1/2 day camp. You get to do some drills, (there are no contact drills and pads and helmets are a no-no) met and attend some "special sessions with the coaching staff of the respective university and also meet former players. And of course you can get autographs!

I can never see JT wanting to prostitute himself, his staff and the tradition and integrity of OSU to make a few bucks on the side. To me this just smacks of the ultimate in commercialization and I can't see JT lowering himself to that level.
On the other hand if the money that was exchanged were to end up in some pockets of a respectable charity (like Children's Hospital or for Tyson Gentry) may opinion would change a little bit. Also if the former players that were asked to speak/attend the camp were "down and out" and this was a way to help them out again my harsh opinion would be tempered a bit. By the way nothing in the ad in SI or on the website makes me believe that this is nothing more than a money grab, but I could be just overreacting. Anyone else have an opinion?
