2021 FL (WI) OT JC Latham (Alabama Verbal)

Multiple CB’s on 247 to ‘Bama as well including Wiltfong.

Curious how this may or may not impact their pursuits of all-world, and UT legacy, OT Tommy Brockermeyer.

It’s going to be Alabama, but I fully expect an OV this fall.

All is not lost, they’ll be given a chance to win him back.

That is exactly what I was thinking. Once the 'Rona lockdown ends and Latham can come back up to Columbus, we'll see if we can sway him back our way. I think we'll at least make a run at getting him in the fold, especially once what should be a dominant OL this year shows out.

Re: Over the last two months, however, Alabama was able to convince Latham that the Buckeyes were a less attractive option after they signed one five-star left tackle in 2020 (Paris Johnson Jr.), got a commitment from another highly rated tackle in 2022 (Tegra Tshabola) and have Nicholas Petit-Frere and Dawand Jones on the depth chart.

Meanwhile, the Tide signed three offensive tackles in the 2019 class ranked in the top 80 overall (No. 7 Evan Neal, No. 40 Pierce Quick, No. 76 Amari Kight), but they did not sign an offensive tackle ranked inside the top 300 in 2020 and did not yet have an offensive tackle commit in the 2021 class prior to Latham's commitment.

Just sayin': You would think that the #1 OT and #3 (overall) player in the country would be confident in his ability and wouldn't worry about competition at his position and/or the school's depth chart.

Don't think this one is over yet. Buckeyes aren't going to just let him walk after all the work they have put in. There was serious interest for a long time. I still think it's a parental thing, not a JC Latham thing. I could still see him suiting up for the S&G if he eventually makes it to campus for a game in the fall.

Alabama wasnt even in the picture 2 months ago and we were the heavy favorite. If we get a visit I like our chances.
