I just wanted to provide some thoughts on Angelo Smith after he committed to Ohio State on Sunday night. I got a chance to see him play a few weeks ago.
I think first things first – he can play. Obviously, he's Jeremiah's brother, but as the 2027 cycle has come more and more into focus, it has become more and more clear that he's one of the top defenders down in South Florida. He sees the game really well and gets to the catch point. He's also a sound tackler that will strike in the open field. Against St. Frances Academy he had 9 tackles and an interception.
The big knock on Angelo is going to be his size, but it should be noted that he's tracking to start college well before his 18th birthday and Jeremiah wasn't always the biggest kid. I'm not saying Angelo is going to morph into a cyborg like Jeremiah, but I think he's a good chance he's going to continue to keep filling out.

-Deep safety that lacks size, but makes up for it with his football IQ and 91 speed score.
-Surpisingly physical for a defender of his stature as he strikes in the open field and can wrangle larger ball carriers to the ground.
-Spent much of sophomore year working out of a single-high look for Florida’s 1A champions where he flashed impressive range.
-On the younger side for the grade and could undergo a major physical transformation in the coming years, much like his older brother.
-Needs to keep improving as a man defender.
-Projects at this stage as a potential multi-year contributor at the Power Four level that can play assignment football and pitch in on special teams units.
