Dev from Buckeye Boyz is doing an interview with RB Tranard Roberts tonight. It's cool he's able to get some of these recruits on his show. He had Edmund McAllister on last night.

Roberts said he's now 6'1-207. He had a laser timed 4.32 40 yard dash too.

Roberts mentioned visiting OSU a couple times this season. Talks to coach Lock every single day. It'll be interesting to see how the rb class turns out.

Sounds to me a bit that tOSU is going to stand with current RB room. Even though it 'sounds' like a couple will exit via the portal this year. All pretty young, underclassmen, and all believe they should be RB1. Very much expect tOSU to be active in the portal this year, looking for an OL (always), as well as an experienced RB. And anything else they deem necessary.

Could be the case, but are they watching the same RB group that I am? Not saying we don't need a portal addition or two (WE DO), but I am an advocate of having a darn good one in each class if you can do it without overpaying. The NIL part is where I think we all are going to have to see what a RB is really worth - we aren't paying up for the position and maybe that is the right move.

Or, we will have subpar RB play despite having a good-great OL and rethink things. Jury is still out in my eyes. I will say J. Jackson is starting to look like a beast and we of course know Sermon was a monster homerun in the portal. Then Bo has had some really big moments and he was a fairly highly rated guy we took from HS. I think there is a balance we still need to figure out.

Looks like with Roberts, we are not engaging on whatever the price is (like with the big RB that went to Tennessee last year, already forgot his name). We'll see, but I would've liked to have seen Roberts in this class. Oh well.

Its difficult to get into bidding wars with desperate programs. Ped St(Jordan Hall went to) and UNC(Roberts is predicted to) are both desperate programs, and teams like that know OSU has price they won't cross, and honestly OSU doesn't need to. It would be nice to add Roberts to the room, but at what price? I'd rather give what he's probably going to get at UNC to a proven player in the Portal. And with OSU having so many young RBs playing, that's not the place for a HS RB who's seeking early PT

Seeing all the gnashing of teeth about RB recruiting, I haven't kept up with the name by name activity but in general- they took a swing at what they considered a difference maker and came up short. The fall back kids are all being offered more than they are worth (in judgement of staff) so it is what it is.

I am generally ok with the strategy as it appears from the outside. There are only a handful of real difference makers at the position, you can get plenty good enough at a certain budget level.

Spend the money on QB, OL and WR (offensively)
