“Getting the offer was great,” Lawrence told Eleven Warriors after the camp. “I had the mindset to come out there and compete with some of the best guys, like Tavien St. Clair. (Coach Day) told me that I have a lot of potential and that I’m only a rising freshman but there were a lot of good things that caught his attention. Honestly, it’s a big deal (to get an offer as a freshman), I can see just from the views and things like that from the past two hours (of getting the offer). It’s truly a blessing.”

Neimann Lawrence has already showcased he’s a special talent in the 2028 recruiting class.
The Florida quarterback put on a show for Chip Kelly and Ryan Day in June at a recruiting camp and became the second player to receive an offer from the Buckeyes in the 2028 cycle before he even started his freshman year of high school. He's already earned eight Division I offers, also including Arkansas, Florida State, Miami, Nebraska, TCU, UCF and West Virginia.
Lawrence was back on Ohio State’s campus last weekend, taking in his first gameday experience in Columbus for the Western Michigan game.
“I felt like the visit was great,” Lawrence told Eleven Warriors. “My takeaways were that Ohio State really cares about their players. Not only on the field, but off the field. They care about their personal development. They care about how they’re doing in class and helping them to be a better person overall.
“The atmosphere was great, I saw the fans tailgating at like 10 in the morning and the game started at 7:30 at night. I thought that was really cool. It was also nice to be a part of the Skull Session as well before the game.”
Lawrence caught up with Kelly before the game and enjoyed his conversation with OSU’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
“Our conversation wasn’t really about football, it was about how I was doing in school, what I’m learning about, what I want to major in and me developing as a person,” Lawrence said.

“I think their quarterback play is nice,” Lawrence said. “I like the way they take advantage of the early drives when they take advantage of the RPOs in the beginning of the drive. I like how they give their quarterback the ability to make reads and get the ball to his playmakers downfield and also tucking it down and letting him do all the work as well.”

I never underestimate the power of the ego. Hopefully he stays, but wouldn't be surprised if he was just escaping a horrible situation for a few years. He willingly gave up a head coaching position at UCLA to be the OC at Ohio State. Kelly and Day are good friends, his net worth is reportedly $25M, and he's making > $2M per year at Ohio State doing what he likes to do, i.e. run the offense with no "head coaching" worries. I'll say he'll be at Ohio State as long as Day is the head coach. It's the up and coming assistants like Hartline, Walton, Laurinaitis, and Guerrieri, etc. that we have to worry about keeping.
QB Neimann Lawrence (2028): The Miami Northwestern signal-caller showed why he is already considered one of the top arms in his class. Lawrence, a 6-foot-1, 195-pounder, can make all the throws and does so with outstanding mechanics. The rising sophomore, who has secured 14 offers to his name, has terrific footwork, a clean, compact motion, and puts plenty of velocity on his throws. It takes only a handful of throws to see why Lawrence will eventually be able to attend any program across the country. Beyond that, when you speak to him and get to know him, it's clear he has the mental makeup you're looking for in an elite passer. Following his effort, Lawrence was invited to the 2028 All-American Bowl. — Loy
