2024 FL LB Nicholas Rodriguez (Missouri Verbal)

Committed in July, but OSU cooled on him in favor of Edwin Spillman and KVA. After losing out on both, OSU is looking to flip the Mizzou verbal. And he visited for the YSU game. Stayed on campus until Sunday afternoon

Rodriguez, who is high school teammates with OSU running back commit Jordan Lyle, is the top remaining linebacker target for the Buckeyes. He visited Columbus on Sept. 9 for the Buckeyes’ game against Youngstown State, where he spent a good chunk of time chatting with Jeremiah Smith. It’s unclear how likely a flip is from Mizzou at this point, but Rodriguez is still on OSU’s radar and there clearly is at least some mutual interest from both parties.

After I looked back at our numbers for '24 and realistic commits, if we like someone enough at LB there is room to add a third. We need another LB in this class imo...we have all of Eich, Chambers and Simon leaving...having another prospect wouldn't hurt.

It’s been nearly two months since Rodriguez visited OSU and since then, it seems less likely he ends up flipping from Missouri. The Tigers having a far better season than expected doesn’t hurt their chances of retaining their linebacker commit, but if a flip is going to occur on OSU’s end, it would probably help if the Buckeyes get him back on campus for one of the two remaining home games.
