RATING BUMP: JARQUEZ CARTER, 2025 DL - OHIO STATE COMMIT

While he might be facing a lower level of competition, Ohio State pledge Jarquez Carter is doing exactly what he's supposed to do as a senior. A de facto firecracker in the middle, the quick-twitched Carter has racked up 39 tackles for loss and 14 sacks this season for a Newberry (Fla.) squad that's expected to make a deep run in the Sunshine State's 2A playoffs.
Verified at just under 6-foot-2 this spring, Carter has more of a compact build, but he finds ways to constantly wedge his way into the backfield and apply pressure on a near snap-to-snap basis. Carter now holds 247Sports' highest three-star rating of 89 and should be viewed as a interior projection who can provide valuable minutes for a Power Four defensive line rotation, especially in passing situations. -- Andrew Ivins, 247Sports director of scouting

Per AG, Jarquez Carter and London Merritt will have to make decisions on whether to trust Ohio State’s plan or just take the largest NIL package available.
Ohio State is not upping the NIL package for either player and view them as replaceable.

Miami is the threat for Carter, Colorado the threat for Merritt.

Biggest steal of the class in my opinion. Can't believe we got this one out of Florida.
There are a few candidates and biggest steal should be a topic in every year's class review, although I guess we've had biggest surprise. Holding onto Grady and Pettijohn are up there, but I am ecstatic we kept Carter. You need DTs like this to win championships, really think he is going to be a an impact player here at some point in the next couple of years. His play and build reminds me a bit of BB Landers, who of course all our fans loved.
