LJ isn’t going anywhere else. All of the other coaches got 2 year contracted. Both of us can speculate but I think he’s more or less done..

Per multiple people whom I trust at Alabama, Ohio State is the primary rival for Keeley. Yes, Florida has made a compelling NIL pitch; however, Florida's collectives have been somewhat challenged in terms of organization, alignment with the athletic department, and fulfillment. I don't believe that most people at either Ohio State or Alabama consider Florida to be a likely landing spot for Keely.

There is a strong level of agreement with Birm's diagnosis: If this were Keeley's decision alone, then it would definitely be Ohio State. Setting aside position and scheme "fit" arguments, there is absolutely no doubt that he is the archetype of the ideal Ohio State recruit - great kid, elite athlete, excellent student, high character.

There remains a strong faction in his family who has been mightily flattered by the Alabama booster community with significant promises. (No - it is not his mother...though it is someone who has become very ingratiated with his recruitment since the advent of NIL. This person has significant influence on his mother who, in turn, has significant influence on Keon. From the outside looking in, the situation screams alarm bells. This person is definitely acting more in his interest than in Keon's - but this is not an altogether uncommon situation.)

If Keeley chooses Ohio State, then he will have left seven figures on the table from Alabama. (Yes - he might eventually earn similar $ at Ohio State, but the Alabama boosters have their proposal set-up as a massive upfront payment in the form of a services agreement.) It will also likely mean that his "Hey! I'm Back in Your Life" Family Member will be very upset with him as he (i.e., the adult hanger-on in his entourage) has already started spending the money in "consulting fees" that he has been advanced by Alabama boosters.

I suspect that Birm is merely being polite and not risking his relationship with Keon by outright saying, "Keon wants to be at Ohio State. But, there is an influential family member being seduced by booster money at Alabama that is pushing hard for the Tide." But, if he did say that, then it would be 100% true.

P.S. If you examine his official visits, Keon typically travels with his mother and one other family member. It's not his mother. FWIW, according to people both at Alabama and Ohio State, "Keon is great kid, but his ***** is a bad dude, lousy influence, and a general POS."

P.S. Ohio State is definitely NOT out for Caleb Downs. FWIW, I believe that there is less optimism than has been expressed on this forum for Wilson.

Keeley is also very clearly a 4-3 DE, which is seemingly an advantage for OSU, where they have multiple 4-3 DEs making a lot of money in the NFL right now, where Bama does not, largely because they run a 3-4.

Never count Bama out, but there is a reason Ohio State appears to have momentum here.

Technically it appears that the money is being offered by the boosters to Uncle Tim and not Keeley himself.

Isn’t it a bit hard to think we win in a situation like that? Something tells me Day doesn’t want the program and it’s support mechanisms to get into tussles like that. That person sounds like an absolute scum bag though if that’s true.

I want to be optimistic, but competing against possibly 7 figure up front money is too hard to pass up. Not to mention Uncle Timmy is already getting personal checks from the boosters(rumored)...
