2023 FL DE Damon Wilson (Georgia Signee)

almost none of us would turn down huge offers, even if that wouldn't be the primary driving force.

it's easy to be shortsighted and just look at the immediate returns

but there's something to be said from making a good portion of it performance-based after you've help the team, or at least become a part of the team.

it doesn't matter how perfectly you set it up, someone's going to be willing to pay some crazy amount that disrupts the flow of everything. and frankly Mike Hall Junior might be the best defensive lineman since Chase young and might not get matched in performance by either of the two special defensive ends. but because of the nature of his position he's never going to generate insane revenue. so what happens if you write a huge check to the next high schooler how do you reconcile that? especially if the check is going to a big time running back which is not a hard position to find, but easy to market. yet here's an actual all American that best case scenario you can land two to three more across a 10-year period if you recruit perfectly. meanwhile you can land a five-star running back almost every year and find scores of lower rated kids that play at that level because it's just not that hard of a position to scout.
