Air Force's Fisher DeBerry will retire as coach after 23 years on Friday, the school said.

One of the classiest and most under-rated coaches of the modern era. He kept that service academy competitive in a decent league over a long period of time, something Navy and Army have been unable to muster. Best wishes to him on his retirement...he's earned respect and some rest.

There was a minor scandal of some sort a few years ago there that was directly attributed to him. Can't remember the details, just his name being drug through the mud.

He never deserved it.

Air Force hires Texans assistant Troy Calhoun as head coach

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AP) ? Air Force chose former Denver Broncos assistant Troy Calhoun to replace Fisher DeBerry as head coach Friday.

Calhoun, who left the Broncos to join Gary Kubiak as offensive coordinator of the Houston Texans this season, is a 1989 Air Force graduate ? the first former Air Force player to coach the Falcons.

I've had a couple friends who've worked at or when through the Academy. The guy was a legend there. If you follow anything about the Academy teams, you know they have so little time to practice compared to any other school and it really is amazing they can compete at all with modern day D1 schools.
