Wrong glass, Sir.
I know that some--Cincibuck in particular--have been concerned that with increased admissions selectivity, Ohio State would begin to look more like a private boarding school than a land-grant university. Ohio State just released a press release on the 2007 freshman class which showed that, despite its high standards, its proportion of first generation college students was nearly 50% higher than the national average (22.7% vs. 15.9%).
News and Information - The Ohio State University
The standards for the class were:
52% of applicants accepted
middle 50% range of ACT scores: 26-30
Average ACT score 28.4
27% scored 30+/72% scored 26+
57% from the top tenth of high school class
91% from the top quarter of high school class
High quality doesn't necessarily mean that we're going to become some preppy playground.
