First day as a student teacher.

I started student teaching p.e. today at what is considered to be one of the best high school in the united states. Just my luck, the school has a bomb threat and I end up having to do hallway patrol duty. Then when it was deemed safe first class of the day had to break up a fight.
On a plus note, every room in the school has large screen t.v.'s and the gyms projectors, so I was able to watch the NCAA tourney in the gym/weight-room/aerobics room all day. I love this job.

What school was this?

In my school, student teacher means "Another victim, give 'em all you got".

I remember my math teacher once said something. It was about teachers in other districts. His comment was...

"I can work in their district as a teacher, doing their job, but I know they can't survive in my district"

Naperville Central High School.

Naperville, IL has been People magazines number 1 place to raise a family, 2 of the last 5 years. I've also done clinicals at a far more challenging site. This job though the technology is so high that my job becomes very easy. The kids are all very motivated and want the student teacher to succeed more or less.

Would this be the school?

They have some weird graduation requirements. You must take 7 semesters of PE to graduate(?). At my school, you take 1 year, which is 2 semesters and you are done. You can't even take it again, even if you want to.

Pretty weird when you need the same amount of english classes, as you do gym.

Does this go for the whole state of Illinois or what?

That is indeed the school. It is basically an Illinois thing. Illinois is the only state left that requires physical education. Students can get out of them if they want to though by filling out a waiver if they are a very exceptional academic student or in 2 athletic programs; although it's pretty rare that a student opt to get out of the classes.

Naperville's a nice city. I have family there, so I've gotten to visit it quite a few times. Congrats on the new job!

Hey Teddy, I didn't know you went to school in the hood. Did they make a movie about your class?
