I've always liked them
I have some specialized legal issues I'm dealing with and need something better than a local BAR association recommendation to find an attorney. Unfortunately my situation isn't something a friend or even the attorneys I know can recommend to me. I'm looking for something to point me in the right direction of attorneys that can handle federal court in Ohio.

I think the class of lawyers you are looking for don't advertise, i.e. old school. If you belong to a professional or service organization, for example, Ohio Education Association or Lions club, that may be a good place to start. There should also be a listing for the Dayton ABA chapter. Contact them.

If you know anyone who works for one of the top tier firms in Ohio such as Vorys or Bricker, ask them. Even if it's not something that they handle, they'll have a rolodex full of highly respected specialty attorneys to cover any contingency work like real estate or criminal law for their regular clients.

It sounds as though you may need a substantial firm in the first place, so it doesn't hurt to contact a couple. All they can say is, "we're not interested."
