Fiesta Bowl: West Virginia 48, Oklahoma 28 (final)

The same as always: Sorta dinged up, then absent for two quarters with [insert anything].

No offense to the guy, but I've never seen anyone (next to Hart) miss so much time due to those random ass injuries.

Not accounting for the difference in conferences, DSA has this as one of the most evenly matched Bowl games.

I, for one, expect it to be a good game. WVU is better than people give them credit for on defense. If Pat White is healthy, I would expect it to come down to the wire.

White will be fine....he dislocated his non throwing thumb, but there was no ligament damage, so he'll be fine in a couple weeks...

and one shot, comparing him to Mike Hart, who missed half the season, is a disgrace to mankind....Absent for 2 quarters as always? Name more than 3 games in his career that he had to come out of? One was USF with a bum ankle, one was 3rd qtr against Cuse with a seperated shoulder, and one was last week agaisnt sPitt with a dislocated thumb.....when a trainer tells you that you cant go back in, you listen to him....Injuries happen, its not like hes complaining of a ingrown finger nail....

I think he means getting hurt vs USF two years in a row, and the two losses this year (I realize one is an overlap).

But I agree, it's a horrible comparison in terms of character. That post-game interview took serious humility, while Hart ducks out the side door in his final UM game.

Oklahoma CB/PR Smith breaks toe, out for Fiesta Bowl
[FONT=Arial, Helvetica]
NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma cornerback Reggie Smith has a broken big toe on his right foot and will not be play when the third-ranked Sooners face No. 11 West Virginia in the Fiesta Bowl.

Trainer Scott Anderson said Thursday that Smith, an all-conference selection as a defensive back, would not be healed in time to play in the Jan. 2 game.

Smith, a junior, has played in all 39 of Oklahoma's games since arriving on campus as a highly-touted recruit from Edmond Santa Fe High School. He ranks fourth on the Sooners (11-2) with 78 tackles and also has three interceptions. He returned his lone fumble recovery of the season 61 yards for a touchdown against Miami.

However, Smith is more than a cornerback. He is also Oklahoma's top punt returner, and he has returned one punt for a touchdown in his college career.

Fellow cornerback Dominique Franks replaced Smith on defense and as the Sooners' punt returner after Smith was injured in the victory against Missouri in the Big 12 championship game.

I'm torn on this one.

Part of me wants to see OU go down to shut up the incessant talk of them being one of the many teams not playing for the NC that talking head x thinks is the "real" best team in America/team that no one wants to play.

Then on the flipside I wouldn't mind OU showing the nation and the WVU faithful just how far removed from being a legit big time program they really are.

Either way, one of them has to lose so its all good I guess. If I was allowed to pick the winner I'd have OU win a blowout and that might actually be pretty close to what happens.

Please. Both Slaton and White are soft, both are great against weak competition and then as soon as the game gets close and they're losing, it's "ouch ouch Coach I'm hurt"

What's the projected status of White for this one?

IT DOESN'T MATTER! WVU once again proves they're WAY OVER RATED! I wanted to play them so bad in the Title game. Before we lost to Illinois I was hoping this game would come to fruition. I was ready to lay 14 pts without hesitating!

One benefit of a WV win is that it could help tOSU become preseason #1 next year. That could lift tOSU into the most times #1 all-time in the AP poll.
