FCC approves proposal to boost TV set-top box competition

It's like cable companies are being run by the idiot banker character from those Huntington commercials. They'll ultimately wind up at a $10/mo "bring your own box" connection surcharge if you refuse to rent their equipment.

At a certain local country club, you can avoid paying the per-round cart fee ($25) by walking. But you'll need to pay a "trail fee" of $18 for the privilege.

I now refer to them as "Time Warner CC."

All the more of a reason to cut the cord.
Well thats gonna change to... new FCC chair hates net neutrality so its highly likely internet or things like netflix/hulu will go up because the cable providers will make them pay a kings ransom for decent service for their customers. Through in data caps on broadband plans (unless you pay for useless cable service too) ... the Era of good times for consumers on the internet are likely over with Pai as chairman... higher bills are coming.

Pai and the Republican agenda in the FCC is going to severely hinder the growth of internet-based services and commerce, and it will show in the broader economy. Companies providing internet based commerce/services will probably get hit twice; hosting will likely go up, and then of course pay-to-play for better access with each ISP. Customers will feel that through increased prices from the site, and of course ISPs are going to raise rates as they always have, despite now getting paid for the data on both ends of the deal.

But I'm sure it will be great for the bottom line of several mega corporations- and those massive corporate profits will surely benefit all Americans--- otherwise Americans might be feeling really pissed off to the point of electing someone like Donald Trump.

But hey, Muslims, Mexicans, gay marriage, abortion, guns! Look at the jingle keys everyone!

By the by, the govt also secretly is rolling back the federal program that offers rebates to poverty households for Internet services for school children.
