FB Aram Olson (Official Thread)

Welcome Aram

Just got home from work and rushed to the computer to see the good news. I would not be surprised if he saw the field next year. With Wells and now Olson in the fold it gives JT an I formation complement to the spread that can be used to get a yard or two for the first down or to pound it in for a touchdown when in the red zone. That would be very useful in a MNC run.

GO BUCKS

He is an absolute tank in his videos. He runs down hill and completely blows up the men he is blocking. Reminds me of a Mike Alstott type. I bet Wells, Pittman, and Wells (sounds like a law firm) are glad to see him commit.

I always admired the work of Wiscy's Bernstein, clearing out people.
This kid could be our "Bernstein".
Auburn fans are not happy about getting beat for Olson.

The blocking back from Michigan (Dudley) in 2004 was the best pure blocking back on an opposing team I've ever seen. He totally blew up Everett on a blitz and put Carpenter almost on his back on their TD run...it seemed like he didn't miss a single block when he was in there. If Aram blocks that well, there's no way a defense can stop Beanie from a couple yards out.

Not that it really matters since he's a Buckeye, but watching those videos makes me wonder how this kid only rates two stars. Hmmmmm

Bet JT doesnt see it that way.

It doesn't seem as though the recruiting sites (at least Scout) do fullback rankings. They group them all into the RB category. Compared to the flashy, powerful running backs, a blocking fullback (bulldozer) isn't gonna get much rating love. If they were doing FB rankings, I'm sure he'd be one of the top few in the country.

Congrats to Aram on becoming a Buckeye. Like it or not, you're HERE forever.

Kudo's to the coaching staff on what looks like a great pickup. Also, kudo's for choosing Stan White as Aram's host here. Stan was the perfect choice, not just because of position but because both are tough as nails kids who are also great students. I'm sure they talked alot about things not related to football, but I'm sure football came up quite alot between two kids of former Big Ten players.

He sounds like he's a great athletic player. Any idea on why he's only a 1 star prospect? Do you think it's because scout.com hasn't really taken the time to evaluate him?

For basically every single commit who was seriously considering us and another school, the difference has been our coaching staff in their decision. These kids seem to love the coaching staff which is beautiful music to my ears.
