I didn't know where else to put this. This past Monday NPR in Columbus had a grammar expert on to discuss, well, grammar, and she was incorrectly opining on a few things so my friend and I let the trolling begin. He made a video of it:



Edit: It was actually only half a good troll. I didn't get through but called in to represent an opposing faction that believed instead that "noin't" should be used as an appropriate form of "yes."

So they talk about no being much simpler, then go on to over complicate...

First, it’s already spelled once. Y E S N ‘ T

Woman: “Is it yesn’t with an S or yesn’t with a Z?”

Other woman: “Y E S, as in Sam, N ‘ T.”

So woman 1 is wondering if it is an S or Z. Woman 2 spells it and needs to say S, as in Sam, as if “S and Z” even remotely sound the same. Or she could have just answered “with an S.”
