3 potential reasons
1) tire wasn't VR speed rated
2) you can't fill a tire to normal pressures if you're gonna do 200 mph (which is why dragster tires look flat before they launch)
3) you used Firestones or Pacific basin tires
but that was really cool.. surprised the wheel well wasn't destroyed

Reminds me of a story.. when I saw that one of our tires was $800 each... I asked the product mgr... "who would ever buy this? " .. he said "the guy that has a $250K car that can hit a curve at 130 mph.. and wants to live to see the other side of it"... pretty funny.. but true
