I have a lot of favorites, but I want to give someone some props who rarely gets them...

Tom Skladany

Tom was an All-American punter who set a number of records and really delivered in the crunch for the Buckeyes. The way we recently felt about the Nuge, we felt about Tom. If he was punting the ball, the opposition knew they were likely to be drilled into bad field position near the goal line. You could write Mommy a letter during his hang time.

I am voting for Tom because I knew him as a student at Ohio State. Despite his Sports Illustrated clippings and wall-to-wall honors, Tom never put on any airs. He didn't expect or ask for any special treatment from anyone. He more than pulled his weight in group assignments and case study work at the business school. He greeted everyone, deflected any praise he received, and made all of his fellow students feel at ease around him.

Being an outstanding Buckeye is about bringing the entire package. On and off the field. I wasn't surprised when I recently heard that Tom has a successful printing business or something like that in Columbus. I'll bet he's a great guy to work for as well.

Tom Skladany was a total asset to The Ohio State Buckeyes and represented his team on and off the field as few people can. He remains one of my favorite Buckeye players of all time.

Of the players I've seen live at the Horseshoe on multiple occassions, the one that always stood out was Andy Katzenmoyer. I used to hope OSU could play Missouri every week just to watch the Big Kat go ballistic on Corby Jones.

Ask me after the 2006 season though and I'll probably have to go with Troy Smith.

So ... how many threads are you going to bring back from the dead tonight?!

Craig Krenzel hands down. Speaking of, I had to reformat my hard drive, if anyone has KidK's first regular season pass with the bears (touchdown) I'd love to get it from you.

On a down note towards my favorite player, I went to the Bears training camp, Krenzel stayed 30 minutes after anyone on the Field. Nobody cared about him so I was literally 1 of 4 people who stuck around, I yelled out his name afterwards decked out in my CK jersey, and the bastard just walked right past me with no eye contact couldn't believe it... pissed me off, but in away just causes me to like him more. Although for about 3 days he was lowered to my second favorite Buckeye :tongue2:

On a bit more humorous note.. Earlier during the autograph signing I had a Bears poster, Mike Brown offered to sign it as I was waiting, I told him no thanks I'm saving it for Krenzel... he just looked at me weird laughed and walked away.

If it has to be someone I personally watched, that limits things. Pace is definitely up there--that guy just played on a different level than everyone else. However, I've never met him, and since I've been fortunate enough to have met a number of Buckeyes, how they are in person factors in IMO.

I'd therefore have to go with either Troy Smith or Antoine Winfield. Both are great guys and were fantastic on the field, not only in terms of rising to the occasion (indeed both have had their best games against scUM) but also achieving more than people probably thought they were capable of.
