Im gonna hafta second biatchabatuka, the usual suspects is an amazing movie.. although the good guys/bad guys in boondock saints were pretty damn cool too, oh and brad pitts gypsy character in snatch fuckin rocked.

Vader would have to take the cake. He's so compelling a villain that Lucas made 2 more successful movies (with one more on the way) explaining how he became Darth Vader.

You can't argue with the pull he has on movie crowds, and I don't mean the Force.

I would agree that Vader would be the #1 bad guy of all time but there's one thing that keeps me from giving him that distinction. In the end, it's a story of redemption in which Vader isn't really a bad guy after all.
Even during the time he was supposedly evil, his kid said he felt the good him.
I'm sorry,but that can't be the ultimate villian.

Now Tommy devito, there's one sick sociopath. And there's no redemption in that story. Just a cap in the head.

Good point. Then what about the Emperor? So far, Palpatine's resume includes:

1. Recruiting, corrupting, and training Evil Sith Lords to hunt down and kill people: Darth Maul, Count Dooku, Anakin Skywalker, & attempting to do the same to Luke.
2. Buliding two Death Stars, and destroying a whole planet (Alderaan).
3. Planting corruption, using deceit, and underhanded tactics to destroy the Old Republic and create the Empire.
4. Having all the Jedi (save Yoda and Obi-Wan) killed.

I mean, you can't get much worse than that. And we still have one more movie to go.
