My grandmother's brother is retired and lives in a mining town outside of Tucson.
He has a 1955 T-bird that he used to park in what they call a yard out there. The sun and heat have taken a toll on the paint and the dash is cracked. He has had people stop buy and offer to buy it. He told us one guy offered $40K for it. He is keeping it and will pass it down to his son who to my knowledge has no interest in the vehicle. He finally extended his car port and and drug the T-bird up there and covered it up.
He also has a 1972 Toyota land cruiser in excellent shape that he still cruises around the desert in. My understanding is just about everywhere he goes out there people ask if he is willing to sell it. To me it is what the true off road sport utility vehicle was all about.
